Has the AR market in Canada totally collapsed or what?

I will pick on you to. A norinco cq is an AR which is restricted. Many people buy them due to the price point. If you look at sks are selling for a 159 bucks cheaper if you buy a crate. It is way more difficult to ban a rifle that a half a million canadians own. The more AR the merrier. If everyone had one we might even get the non restricted. I would ditch my TAVOR if I could have a non restricted AR.
most people that i know who would by an AR just dont have a restricted so dont bother i myself prefer not going to ranges except our unofficial small arms training for our Group and we do get random visits from the RCMP sometimes so we would rather not have any Restricted arms there to be confiscated since we are not an official range., yes there is one here but its a joke I could of bought almost 2 ar15 but instead i bought 1 nr instead

Restricted firearms are pointless, especially when they cost $1000+.

A Noveske Afghan or Knights SR25 is pointless like a Ferrari or Lamborghini is pointless. Some people like owning shiny toys.
Personally I don't shoot much outside the range, so most of the firearms I own are restricted. To each his own.

He never said the quality was bad on them.
But for the PRICE of them...and all we are allowed to use them for, approved range use ONLY and with a 5 or 10 round magazine and they are recorded property. ie. registered they are not worth it to most.
If we could hunt and shoot them anywhere that is once thing...and why people, like myself, will spend money on rifles such as a Swiss Arms. Or if you got to buy your own service rifle in the armed forces that would make sense as well.
Just wondering why I've read people reference the ACR with non restricted rifles saying they would rather buy those than an AR?
Last I checked the ACR was restricted and unless you were willing to shell out an extra $800-$1000 to buy a barrel from Questar then have a gunsmith install it and then have it reclassified.
There are a lot of posts in this thread I have problems with and without singling anyone out I'll just say:
-To those that don't want a restricted firearm because of the hassles involved, you are part of the problem, there really isn't that much hassle buying, transporting, using, storing. It's pretty simple and owning restricted firearms shows the government that we the people enjoy using these firearms and we the law abiding are not a threat to public safety.
-Only buying non restricted options because there is no paper trail to you so just in case they ban them you won't have to turn them in is saying that you are ok with making yourself a criminal rather than just standing up for yourself and the firearms community and fighting for you rights to own those firearms.
-I'm not going to bash anyone who buys a norc AR because at least they own an AR. I think the quality is low and would personally rather own better quality buy that's not my decision to make for others.
I've noticed a slowdown in sales as well and agree that too many people are asking pretty much new prices for used items. I'm trying to sell my franken AR and have had no bites. I think the price is fair and I know I'm asking less than retail price but it's not moving. Lucky for me I don't need to sell it or even care if it sells. I put it together from parts I found on the EE and am really happy with how it turned out.
I'm not sure why no one has even made an offer though, I clearly state in the ad that I'm open to all reasonable offers.
One more price drop then I'll keep it
I think the market is just slow because those that want one can buy a decent quality AR for around $1000 and there are less people around with the disposable cash to buy high end AR's.
I own 3 AR's and would probably have 10 if I had the cash. Most of my shooting is at the range so it's not a big deal for me. My shooting away from the range is mostly during hunting season so of course I have a few rifles for that as well.
Every person who likes firearms in Canada should own at least 1 restricted rifle or pistol.
