You want a 8334 Ruger American Rimfire ?
Yes the barrel is thicker than the standard RAR.
Yes it's shorter with it's 18 inches barrel.
Yes it uses Ruger flush rotary magazines.
No it's not sold in Canada.

I bought a RAR 8335 .22 magnum via Irunguns.
As far as I know, it's still the only one in Canada !

i think you might be wrong about the barrel being thicker, any chance you have a set of calipers handy?

ill be the first person to admit when ive been wrong and it looks like i was wrong on this.
i found a fella had posted the barrel thickness on Rimfire Central so i went and compared it to my RAR and the green 8334 IS in fact a bit thicker, but not much.
the normal RAR is 0.61 at the end and the 8334 is 0.71 compare that to a true 22 bull barrel which is usually 0.91
so the 8334 is 0.1" thicker
so for us Canadians that is 2.5mm
all this for 2.5mm difference seems like a lot of work for nothing, also seems really odd that Ruger would stray away from its normal 0.91 bull barrels to the 0.71 for just this one gun.
interestingly enough the normal RAR is 0.71 right after it leaves the stock and narrows down to the 0.61 by the end over that 12 or so inches.
so it narrows 0.1" over 12 or so inches compared to the 8334 which does not.
ive learned my 1 thing for the day, i can now go to bed.
