Help me find a Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2 ( FOUND ONE )

They're awesome, slugs no problem.

I struggled, because they are expensive for what they are, as to whether or not omit a DLC cylinder bore and just step it down to an IC and M.

I opted to stay with C, for two reasons both of them being buckshot. I haven't patterned for buckshot yet, but 1) I believe if I'm shooting Federal Flight control, the restricted IC may actually open up the pattern, and 2) when not shooting Federal Flight control, within 25-30 yards, there is next to no pattern differences between the C and IC choke tubes.

Currently, the Mod choke tube lives in the 1301 and life is good. It may be wearing excessively with slugs, I don't think so, but I'm prepared to acknowledge it. When I pattern flight control and regular buck, if the Mod choke is too restrictive and causing flyers or opening up of the patterns, I may opt for an IC and see if there is any notable difference between it and Cylinder bore.

OR, you could save me, and countless gunutters $150.00 and let us know if you find any discernment between C and IC when shooting buck?

edit, I notice an apparent paradox...understand that I am shooting trap (bird loads 7.5) with mod, and slugs at plates. The modified choke does not open the pattern with bird shot, it makes the game a little more challenging and really hits the clays with authority when I connect.
I highly doubt the IC choke will have any effect on flight control shells. The M might. But even so could use M for the cheap stuff and IC for flight control. 🤠

I tried some federal flight control 00 buck with an ic choke and at 35 yards was getting only a 6” pattern. That flight control really holds a tight pattern , too tight for me on running coyotes. I switched to #4 buck, the non flight control stuff with a full choke and was getting 30” patterns at 35 yards.

Interesting. Youtube tells me that Federal flight control remains largely unaffected in choke restrictions up to modified. Any tighter, and the patterns actually start to open up, induce flyers etc.

I haven't seen slow motion video to verify my suspicions, but I think any tighter than modified, the shot cup wad is stripped of the pellets sooner due to the increased friction in the tight choke tube. One would have to somehow measure the wad's velocity at 20 yards and compare between cylinder bore and improved modified or even full choke?

All that said, a 6" pattern at 35 yards would be perfect (devastating) for deer. My range won't allow patterning, so I have to sneak shot shells in when the RO is looking the other way and I haven't gotten there just yet, but I will. ;)

I'm also surprised that #4 buck has the energy to be effective at 35 yards on a dog sized animal? I know it's called buck, but I always kind of thought of it as large birdshot.

How do these compare to the Benelli M4’s? If you were offered either the Beretta or Benelli free which shotgun would you guys take?
I prefer the 1301T. Lighter, faster, eats everything.

They're both fantastic and you can't go wrong with either. Watch a few reviews and comparison videos. It comes down to personal preference really...

I shot a Benelli M4 Tactical with pistol a couple of years ago. Cycled everything and fun. Only complaint not beard friendly for me anyway. Gearing toward full butt stock version. I see the Beretta is a grand cheaper, hmmm. Now seems like a good time to get another toy.
