Its WAY overdue ! Why wont some manufacturer bring back the AR 180b NON restricted rifle. Come on guys. There is such a HOLE in the market place for a DECENT priced AR version that can be used for hunting, trotting through the bush ECT. Just build the Darn thing ! Everyone & their dog is going to buy it,....you wont be able to keep up with production,...and then KEEP making it...for years ! All ya hear is How much its going to cost to build bla, bla bla. There is a HUGE market and you guys are missing it . Volume sales...that's what you'll get ! I cant belive that since the AR went restricted that no one has stepped up to fill this market with a "every mans rifle" at a decent price.!
I'll tell ya......if I was in a financial position , I would do it in a heartbeat!!. Have it made in china, Russia, mexico,..I don't care,..just get the dam thing to market. Norinco can make an AR and sell it for $599, whats the problem>??? who's with me ???

better yet..make a POLL and see !

I've been saying this for years.
It's a painfully obvious gap in our market.
A cheaply made, stamped metal, semi auto rifle in .223 Rem with average accuracy and good reliability.
Keep it around the $1K mark. You wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelf.
The 180B is a perfect design to emulate and tweak just enough to avoid copyright infringement.
Hats off to NEA on that note for pushing the AR10-2. They get it and are at least trying to get us the "working mans NR black rifle".
 
It's a complicated project. There has been talk that any new and complete AR180B type rifle would be classed a variant of the prohibited AR180.

With the recent Cz858 stuff, I beleive that.

Aye, I don't want to admit it but you're probably right these days.
I wouldn't even call it an AR180b though. Steal/borrow the cheap mass produced design principles but change it just enough and call it a "Friend C1A" or whatever for submission.
 
The AR 180B still enjoys non restricted status in Canada. ArmaLite hasn't produced it since 2007 or so I believe, they have no market for it. If a Canadian distributor could pick it up and produce it at a reasonable price and not gouge us on it, I would buy one and I know of many others who would as well. A lot of the reason I haven't gotten into the AR game is most of my shooting is done off range. I've owned an AR and loved it but it moved out of the safe in favor of NR T97 I never use because it's awful. The real challenge comes from licensing to produce it and tooling up on scale to make it economical. No one is making any replacement parts for existing units (to the best of my knowledge) which means that they also need to be produced or something proprietary needs to be done which all adds up in a hurry. I have recently read a post where Canada Ammo produced an aluminum lower they had planned to market but were beat out by import of lowers from IRUN Guns. In said thread there was mention of producing complete rifles but no definitive acknowledgement of the subject. I can only dream of an affordable NR black rifle that is comfortable to use.
 
Despite the hate from some on here, the AR-180/180B is still a very popular platform with almost a cult following both up here and the USA. Seeing how quickly they get snatched up on the EE when priced reasonably and the amount of people at the range that ask me where I got mine/offer to buy mine speaks volumes about it. If there wasn't so much demand for an "improved" non-restricted AR-180B there wouldn't be companies like Nodak and Stormwerkz offering parts and metal lowers. Too bad the new Armalite dropped the ball and didn't put a little more engineering into their redesign in the early 2000's. A polymer lower for a rifle was probably revolutionary but re-enforcing the weak spots despite the extra cost would have made it a knock out of the park. Either way, I've still ordered the Nodak lower because I want my truck gun to be a little more "rugged".
 
To many NR Black guns on the market already. by the way Canada Ammo now gets their Dominion Arms AR's built in the US its cheaper than China ATM.

ACR, APC, X95 are better alternatives anyways.

Scale of numbers, takes a bit of cash to retool a whole production line to make a new rifle and Canada alone is not big enough of market to make enough money back to recoup the cost, unless you are willing to shell out $3000+ per rifle, which put it into the APC556 price territory.
 
So, spend the cash, re tool, & build a million of em. They are all going to sell. there's gotta be a way of building a no frills NR AR. Turkey builds really nice shotguns for cheap, the Philippines can sure build cheap guns,..it absolutely can be done for cheap !....and the one who does it is gonna be the top dog for sales in Canada. I'm sick to death of seeing the other totally inflated prices of NR rifles.
$2000 or $3000 for a NR to trot through the bushes with is nuts. They can clone a 10/22 "ria" and sell it here as cheap as $139 bucks, do you honestly think it would cost a whole lot more to make a 223 rifle,...they are both semi auto , the Calibre OD is the same, ..whats different ??? If you can Build an RIA for probably $70 bucks over there, why in the world couldn't they build other rifles too.

Some one otta go to the Philippians and get this going. Look how many copies they are building already !! you don't hear them wine about manufacture set up,...they just do it.
Boy, this is easy stuff folks ,..just think about it for a bit.
