The tavor is used in a few other places... Gautamala being one of them. Pretty sure they might know a thing or two about war.
I love my tavor but I don't get into fire fights so what do I know?
I've heard the missing BFA story, and frankly if it was true, and it was the only reason the XCR wasn't chosen, you'd see the guys in the high speed units using them. I'm talking about SF units with black budgets, (DEVGRU/CAG/DIA/CIA) who pretty much get to run what they want. If they thought for one second that the XCR was a better system, in any caliber available, than either the M4 or the 416, it's what they'd use - the fact is they don't. You're more likely to see an AK then an XCR. The green army in Iraq tried to dump the 416, but guess what? - the gun that killed Osama was a 416. Even contractors don't run the XCR, and that's a bad sign, since if it was half way reasonable as a combat weapon (ie guys on the ground wouldn't seek employment elsewhere if they were issued it), some bean counter in a budget office would send it, since on paper it makes perfect sense.
Contractors would also actually prefer running a cz858 in aghanistan than an xcr... 700$ gun preferred over a 2500$ gun...
A lot of guys got 58's in Afghanistan, but they were temporary, from my understanding (KevinB would know, I think posted some pics at one point) - M4's were slow arriving and 58's were in country. XCR's were never in the mix - for any reason, anywhere. That speaks volumes. Of course they'd never run the TAR21 - who wants to carry an Israeli weapon in down town Taliban.

Yo strait up home da tavor mo betta. Dis a army gun fo reals and it be shorter.
Neither, Swiss Arms.
It's still a better rifle than both the XCR and tavor. The tavor could be great, but it's only good. I would take an AUG over it any day if I was allowed to own one.
It'll be interesting to see if the type 97 will outshoot it.
Since you are a fan of Churchill (but not reading comprehension or logic), maybe I should say it with the respect it deserves; Sir Winston Churchill, I will leave you with one of my favourite quotes attributed to him.
"The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."
