Higher end NR rifles, Robinson Arms XCR ($2500) vs Tavor 21 ($2750), which is better

The tavor is used in a few other places... Gautamala being one of them. Pretty sure they might know a thing or two about war.

I love my tavor but I don't get into fire fights so what do I know?

When our bus got hijacked in guatemala the police showed up with tavors. Nice rifles I must say, didnt like that much having a few pointed at me though.

I've heard the missing BFA story, and frankly if it was true, and it was the only reason the XCR wasn't chosen, you'd see the guys in the high speed units using them. I'm talking about SF units with black budgets, (DEVGRU/CAG/DIA/CIA) who pretty much get to run what they want. If they thought for one second that the XCR was a better system, in any caliber available, than either the M4 or the 416, it's what they'd use - the fact is they don't. You're more likely to see an AK then an XCR. The green army in Iraq tried to dump the 416, but guess what? - the gun that killed Osama was a 416. Even contractors don't run the XCR, and that's a bad sign, since if it was half way reasonable as a combat weapon (ie guys on the ground wouldn't seek employment elsewhere if they were issued it), some bean counter in a budget office would send it, since on paper it makes perfect sense. It's a reasonable rifle for civilians, and perhaps LE work, it is not a combat proven system, and it never will be.

Contractors would also actually prefer running a cz858 in aghanistan than an xcr... 700$ gun preferred over a 2500$ gun...

A lot of guys got 58's in Afghanistan, but they were temporary, from my understanding (KevinB would know, I think posted some pics at one point) - M4's and Sig553's were slow arriving and 58's were in country. XCR's were never in the mix - for any reason, anywhere. That speaks volumes. Of course they'd never run the TAR21 - who wants to carry an Israeli weapon in down town Taliban? As far as that goes, I've never heard of even JTF2 (who run all sorts of oddball stuff, that would make your head spin) running an XCR even as a test gun, if I'm wrong then someone closer to the loop is welcome to correct me, but that is what I've gleaned as a civilian with some careful research (read that as hundreds of hours).

Oh didn't know that... Thanks for clarifying. Makes me want to get another czech authentic cz858. Was actually cleaning it today and I'm still amazed about it, but I'd like one without any mods on it, keeping it real...

Anyways sorry for derailing, back to the Israeli Tavor now.

Buy an XCR or a Tavor, for what we do both will work just fine. It's become like a Ford Vs. Chev Vs. Dodge question around here with those two rifles. All of them do the same thing, it just comes down to personal taste. (those with taste choose Dodge)

Yo strait up home da tavor mo betta. Dis a army gun fo reals and it be shorter.

Yo Yo Yo da tavor be straight up tite son.

Da XCR needs tha red locktite. Dey keep a whole drum full at tha gun store just fo tha motorcycles that be driving by.

If yo gun need motorcycle locktite you can't Stop. Drop. Open Up Shop.

Yo. Ho. That's how Ruffryders roll.

It's still a better rifle than both the XCR and tavor. The tavor could be great, but it's only good. I would take an AUG over it any day if I was allowed to own one.

It'll be interesting to see if the type 97 will outshoot it.

Yep I agree. Read a few things online, but like everything from China, it's hard to trust anything they say, too much smoke and mirrors "we are the best" crap from that country.

Regardless, I did put a deposit on one of them, been thinking of it as my loaner bullpup to friends that are bugging me about shooting my tavor.

Since you are a fan of Churchill (but not reading comprehension or logic), maybe I should say it with the respect it deserves; Sir Winston Churchill, I will leave you with one of my favourite quotes attributed to him.

"The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."

Mine was a general comment observing this trend. If you choose to assume it was directed at you, zero...being the amount of effs I give

+1 for the 858

Very good friend of mine chose an 858 over an M4 platform for his stints overseas. Mods/additions consisted of only chopping it and adding an Eotech, he loved and swore by it.

Swiss arms is not in contention of anyone buying pending status review.

All guns are up for a "possible review" ban and so on...there is no reason or logic behind them, it just takes one phone call with a nowadays...

You can buy a Swiss Arms today...from a gun store so...shhh?
