OK, so I've decided that I want to have the "gun that killed Osama". Now, how do I go about getting one of these conversion kits into Canada? Do I have it shipped to a 3rd Party importer like Prophet River or IRunGuns? How do I know if the manufacturer has their export licenses sorted out? I've never imported a critical component like a barrel from the U.S. before, so the process is a bit intimidating. Money is ready to send, I just need to know how I go about it....

It's not really a conversion kit just a replacement barrel for the MR upper, you will need the MR upper receiver & handguard etc. I don't know if HKParts are ITAR approved? but IRG could do the export if everything is above board. Good Luck.

I know HKparts.net has worked with IRUNGUNS before about exporting stuff they carry, and since they're a major US parts supply centre for H&K stuff I would put money on them being ITAR/DDTC registered for export. I guess someone needs to ask IRG to look into it :p

very nice looking barrel though, I can see a bunch of these selling up here.

It looks identical to my official 416 10.4 barrel I own. If it runs within 95% to an official HK one it is well worth it. But now we can get 11 barrels in Canada that are more ideal for various reasons it will not be as needed. That being said for people that have MR223 and A1 versions this would be perfect for them.

This is great. No more people selling $12,000 HK416 uppers with the 10.4" barrels anymore.
Exactly! Sorry for those sitting on ridiculously priced 416 uppers, but that is how the mop flops. Sucks to take the hit, but such is life. Not everyone needs the real deal, and many (like me) are willing to settle. A pretty darned nice "settle" mind you - with all correct dimensions, etc. Now we just need to figure out how to get them North of the border...

For the amount of money you are paying you may as well just get a 416 upper off Gunbroker first, then buy the spare barrel after. Join the Hk club bro. If you go HK you will never go back.

12 K for the upper? I paid south of 3 for upper/barrel/gas block.

I could easily pick up handguard and bolt for about 800 total.

And I'll stick with my 416 upper :p
There was one listed on the EE for some time for something like that. Don't know if someone actually bought it or not though.

So, I confirmed last night that the least expensive 3rd party importer is not a site sponsor, so cannot be named here. Suffice it to say that they are the Angstadt Arms importer for Canada... Anyhow, they will import a parts kit for a $35 fee, plus $26 shipping from their Penticton office to your doorstep. $61 CAD all-in, for the math-impaired.

I then called HKParts.net this morning and ordered up the 10.4" MR556 Barrel Conversion Kit. That's the only part that hurt - $589.95 USD converted from our painfully weak CAD! HKParts.net were happy to take my Cc information once I told them they would be shipping to a U.S. FFL for export. I gave them the Yucca, AZ address of the importer's U.S. office, they sent me a receipt with tracking #, and I provided the tracking # to the importer for follow-up.

The above was all I had to do to get the ball rolling. Now the wait begins for the next monthly import of items by the importer, after which I too shall possess "the gun that killed Osama". I can always revert the carbine to something akin to the USMC M27 IAR by simply reinstalling the 16" barrel. Yay!

I hope this helps anyone else looking to import parts from the U.S. Nothing to fear aside from the currency conversion. Otherwise it is a very easy process!
