Hollow Point Ammo in Canada?

I'm not even going to entertain a proper answer...instead I give this...

I horde ammo, and not the supposedly friendlier military only FMJ...which is sort of ironic alone once you think of it, but lots of JHP of a variety of flavors.

JHP's? Why? Because I want to, I can, and I will excercise my freedom when using them to repel zombies, aliens, criminals, killer squirrels, fat women and any other phychologically/shizophrenically paranoid conjured threat at every opportunity presented to me.
If lacking of the aforementioned (Which is 99.999999% of the time), I will excercise my freedom to offend, disgust, horrify and most definately notify liberals, defeatists, the left-wing peanut gallery, odd CGN posters and any and all who oppose me of the right to own this stash of juicy, beautiful, flesh maiming, baby killing, bullet expanding JHP glory.

Best response by far to the why JHP question!

er if you can roll your own, get it from cgn user curese...he';s got jhp.

you are not allowed to IMPORT hp ammo into Canada without a special permit. There are no regulations saying you cannot posses hp handgun ammo once it has been legally imported here. It can be purchased from wss online as well as a variety of other shops. As previously mentioned it is more expensive and not carried by all gun stores. If you want them for WHATEVER reason, then more power to you. :)

personal protection from?... zombie attack? Or is the guy busting into your house to murder you going to give you a sec so you can grab your legally stored handgun, unlock it and load it before he gets you? I've never understood guns for PD in Canada.

The odds of a perfect PD situation where you're not going to end up in jail is so ridiculously low, why risk using gun? Just use a nice big knife....

As for HP it being safer, well, majority of handguns are shot at ranges which should be safe for regular ammo. If you're creating dangerous ricochets, then either you or the range is not being safe.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention . . .

JHP ammo

All jhp ammo is to be used in rifles only. That is the way it is.

Again, I am going to keep asking this question along with the 10rd LAR mag question every two weeks.

Oh ya, there is the what is the best pistol for a new shooter question or is a Glock better than a 1911 question.

What are sticky' for?

I bought some by "accident" today.

I just asked for some .45ACP and a few boxes of federal for the shotgun. It seemed like a bit much at the till, but I was in a bit of a rush so I just shrugged it off...

I got home and the box was already opened, so I had a peek to see if it was all there.. Sure enough JHP. I don't know why anyone really needs it, but its badass enough looking that I don't mind. I looked at the receipt and its only a few bucks more.

It can be hard to get in a lot if the time. We just got some in. It will be on the website by Tuesday. Remington 9mm, 40 S&W, 45ACP and some Wolf 40 S&W.

Cross-border shopping rules.

Two weeks ago, I saw some at BGC for $17 a box. For reloaders, they had the bullets for $18/100.

I have a nice big box (250) of 185HPs in .452".

I figure that's 242 for nice, tight paper groups and 1 for a milk-jug filled with water.

I'll just keep the other 7 around, in a mag, so I don't lose them, just to think on, you know.

BTW, thanks for the ref to Mauser's paper. I guess I'm not as paranoid as I thought.

I don't worry who has supply, ITAR and who might sell me some. I cast my my own using a Lyman "devestator" series bullet mould. In this picture I have 180 grain hollow point sized to accomadate my 455 Webley revolver, it will of course work for 45acp and with a sabot in .50 muzzleloader, assuming sufficient speed and soft lead you could expect expansion up to .8-9 + inches. Now to the question why HP bullet I would answer why would anyone not want a 1 inch hole in their target?:)
