How africans hunt ? sorry ill stick to the Canadian way

Well...think about it.

Those tribesmen are hunting for food.

They don't have high-powered rifles, or fancy compound bows, or high-tech camouflage patterns to wear. No optics either.

So, a spear carried by a bunch of tribesmen does the trick instead.

That being said, there have been times in particular regions that the native peoples have pretty much tried to just kill everything in sight. Partially for food due to the fact that the majority of the people in those regions are starving and partially because they're ticked off that the 'white man' is making money off of hunting safaris on turf that used to be theirs.

Hey you gotta do what you gotta do. That's some pretty hardcore hunting. The rifle is much more humane i gotta admit even downright civilized. It makes me feel like a snob and a wimp. All that spear chucking looks dangerous for all involved.

####. make the reposts stop! this is repost x10? x15? on this site.

it's a movie made by the antis comparing hunting to tribal genocide in affrica. or did you not see the pile of bodies at the end?

That disturbed me. I'd be shooting those spearmen for sure. Just a gut reaction to an animal in pain. Hunting with a rifle is cleaner. One man with a spear is somehow more sporting. My reaction to a mob with spears is one of revulsion.
They must eat and therefore hunt co-operatively. Nevertheless it is disturbing.
Just my opinion formed of living in a fat country.

I think a large pack of african wild dogs look more humane than these guys do. Kind of makes you sick just looking at this stuff. I know they need to eat and what they do requires courage, but they sure look like their enjoying the adrenalin rush too. I'm glad we have progressed from that primitive state.

:agree:

Just doesn't seem humaine

I don't believe we have the right to criticize their way of harvesting rations of protein. It may seem a bit cruel from our standpoint, but if you are hungry, and cannot access more efficient tools, you will use what is available that can do the job. I also feel that Rifles are far better tools, but they are not even an option for many native Africans. Regards, Eagleye.

Uhhh...when you hunt don't you get an adrenalin rush? I know I do even though I'm using a rifle. I can't imagine the anal pucker factor using a spear from 20 or 30 feet on a freakin' elephant. Yes, it does look inhumane, but our (waaay back) ancestors didn't have 416 rigbys or 458 winchesters...they had to start somewhere too.
I'm not all up on African culture but I bet theres a few days long village celebration when a ton o' meat is brought back, hence the "enjoyment of the adrenaline rush" those guys display on the hunt knowing their familys will eat well for weeks to come.

I think we all as hunters strive for a swift, (painless?) kill. When that is not seen, it becomes a failure to us all. Those kills were anything but swift, and therefore a failure to a North American hunter. Perhaps to a more primitive hunter, they were a success because meat is soon to be eaten,..... and not the hunter
