It is in a pelican case, bolt out in its own little foam cut out you need to pluck it from. no safe for me yet.
I was sure someone was gonna point out that this is blatantly illegal, and yet I was embarrassingly wrong.
Good for you, Leeper. God help you if you ever get busted for such standard operating procedures, but good for you.
I still cannot for the life of me comprehend how we allow the government to dictate to us what we do in our own home.
Ditto!
I hate 'safe kisses'........complete bogusness.....and unnecessary.
It's not blatantly illegal - or even slightly illegal. I have some idea as to where Bill lives and, as long as he's home, the gun is in use and it's ok to be loaded if he lives in a area where shooting is legal.
STORAGE OF NON-RESTRICTED FIREARMS
5. (1) An individual may store a non-restricted firearm only if
(a) it is unloaded;
(b) it is
(i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device,
(ii) rendered inoperable by the removal of the bolt or bolt-carrier, or
(iii) stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and
(c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into.
(2) Paragraph (1)(b) does not apply to any individual who stores a non-restricted firearm temporarily if the individual reasonably requires it for the control of predators or other animals in a place where it may be discharged in accordance with all applicable Acts of Parliament and of the legislature of a province, regulations made under such Acts, and municipal by-laws.
(3) Paragraphs (1)(b) and (c) do not apply to an individual who stores a non-restricted firearm in a location that is in a remote wilderness area that is not subject to any visible or otherwise reasonably ascertainable use incompatible with hunting.
You'll notice that paragraph 1 a is not excluded in either case.
Please keep in mind that I'd love to be proven wrong (even if the author of this thread lives out in the boonies, which means that this "loophole doesn't apply to me). Until recently, I didn't even know that Big Brother had the power to dictate to me what I could or couldn't do in my own freakin' house.....

In vault, no trigger lock, bolt closed, hammer down.
This. I don't like idea of the firing pin spring being compressed all the time....
My guns also live in the safe. HOWEVER! for some reason, space in the safe is becoming tight so I store the bolts separately in the top compartment of the safe.
i store them in the safe, with bolts open, to prevent marking the next one...no trigger locks, ever. Not even in transit.
The spring is more fully compressed when cocked as opposed to 'hammer down'.Even when in the gun not cocked the spring is compressed.
You're allowed your opinion......I don't think it matters one way or the other.
The spring won't care.

I won't buy a safe kissed gun. If it had marks from honest use I would though. Stack ons are cheap if the safe is that tight.
I have bolts in in a locked cabinet and a locked room, no windows.
Me neither. My guns live in a safe with no trigger locks.![]()
