How long do I need to wait for shipping ?

Can you explain why it takes so long to ship?

Hey. Just wondering why it takes so long to ship? I ordered some magazines on April 8th. All items were in stock and I got the standard email confirmation saying:

Thank you for your order. Payment has been received via credit card, direct deposit or EMT.

The order will now be provided to our shipping department. Shipping times vary depending on your location.

We will send you another email notification with the tracking number(s) as soon as the order has shipped. that they received the order and that once shipped I would get confirmation from the shipping department.

So now CanadaAmmo has my money on April 8th. I wait..... On April 17th I get an email saying that the order was shipped. So they had my money for 9 days prior to shipping the order. Am I missing something, or does that not sound like an extremely long time to ship an order?

I am not sure how they do things, but really if someone were to order something from me and they paid me I would probably ship it the same day or the day after or maybe at the latest by day 3. I wouldn't hold the money for 9 days and then ship. If someone on the EE did that I am sure that there would be a bit of a stink about it.

Just wondering if this is always the case with CanadaAmmo?

the reason is they have a lot of people order from them, and they have many things. They have to get your order ready from a warehouse of things, package it then take it the post office.

Doesn't sound too hard, but now lets say you have 100 orders...

I am also willing to bet to cut down on operation costs (keep in mind the FREE shipping) that they have 1 or 2 days a week where they do a run to the post office/canpar drop offsite (since I am willing to bet paying for package pickup costs more than dropping it off at their shipping depo)

It took me less then 2 minutes to find these on CanAms page. They have inexpensive products with free shipping, it you want the same products to your door faster you'll have to pay more. It's fairly simple. Plus they have a huge disclaimer on their website.

There is not a ton of people doing the tasks in a smaller buisness you need to batch the work if your dealing with a hundered orders. So actually boxing and shipping sometimes waits till Fridays etc..

I blame all this on the industry I am in...the photographic industry ;-)
I remember all too long ago when you took your film in for processing on Saturday and would told you could pick it up the following Saturday. You patiently and excitedly waited for your precious memories.
Then along came '1hr Photofinishing'.
People would be back after 60 minutes...full of complaints if their film was going to be another 5-10 minutes.
I couldn't help but wonder if their lives were really so empty that they had nothing better to do than complain about that 5 minutes.
Now we expect everything NOW!
And it better be at the lowest possible price!!
And the service better be exemplary...when I need it...but of course I don't want to pay for what service costs (meaning more staff) when I don't need it.
And we wonder why companies have to outsource to keep costs down.

not intending to harp on canada ammo in any way, but it's just a different costing model - the shipping is built into the price.
there are no free lunches...
THIS is true there is no free ride, the norm for shipping is within 48hrs of ordering, a tracking number is usually included. If your order takes longer, you have the right to call, determine the problem and monitor a solution. after all, it"s your money ..no need for them to keep your money with out product!, immediately call the card company or the emt , DO what ever it takes and put in your loss, there is no reason for keeping your money any longer!! place your order again(if you so choose).. this action may bring them in line with the norm..

that said, MAKE SURE that your info is correct and all information is intact and true! Shipping time allowance vary depending on location, which is usually 2-10 days across CANADA.
Example: shipping from China(parts), Japan(optics) is 14-17 days. with 48 hours process time, should that not happen then, the order is recoverable through the service it was ordered under!

to further, keep in touch with the vendor, everyday if necessary (Three times daily if necessary, and politely deliver your message of tardiness ).. then post your success or not. to the public. THAT will get some attention and maybe, the vendor will take notice! above all, do not allow venders to extend or delay your order, as they may / could and be in receivership or bankruptcy!

you may not want to order from websites that highlights "WE ARE BUSY - orders may be delayed" is simply Bad business!

I understand the allowance for shipping time. Once it leaves Canadaammo it is out of their hands. The issue is that they have an online order system that takes your money and they either are very poorly staffed or not very organized and it takes 9 days to put 10 mags in a box and print a label. They are an on-line retailer. They should have figured out how to do this by now. I guess everyone on here is a little desensitized to poor service and just puts up with it. I really do not think it is acceptable. The only way it would be acceptable would be if they stated on their website that "YOUR ORDER WILL NOT SHIP FOR 9 DAYS AFTER YOU HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON". Or if they sent you an email that apologized for the slow service and let you know that they cared.

I would be more than happy to give them a hand if they need help organizing their pick and ship process. I am sure that a lot of people on here work in similar businesses and the tardiness on deliverables would not be accepted.

I'm a repeat customer with Canada Ammo. I had one minor issue with something that was left out of an order in error. I agreed to have it put into the next order I placed. That was easy. Next order, it was there. The website says very clearly that they are experiencing very busy times. On this forum, Canam has posted that they are looking for a part time person to fill in. They just mentioned that they also have the fun of 50 to 100 U.S. based phone requests for ammo each day. They have to answer these calls along with other "Has it shipped yet?" calls and so on. What I don't get is how people sitting on their arses placing orders can so easily decide that they would do it better than Canam. Let's not forget that there are shipments coming in also. I saw a container going down highway 1 one day with a van that sure looked like it may be a Canam vehicle following it. I wondered if they sometimes have to travel from the port with a container when it's released? I don't know. Just because I know how to shoot a gun doesn't mean I know the ins and outs of Canam's business. If you need something urgently, get it from someone who can meet your deadline. If not, and you want a good price with free shipping over $200.00, Canam is an obvious choice.

So. Let me get this. The fact that they are busy and making money off of us should make us feel bad for them? If they shipped orders in a reasonable amount of time they would not have so many people calling and asking "Has it shipped yet".

I am thinking that in this economy they would be trying to be a little bit more polite to their customers in hopes that they would become repeat customers. There are a lot of other places to buy ammo that have the same pricing.

Anybody Else Having Trouble Ordering at CanadaAmmo?

These people are efficient at cashing your money but then nothing. In this day and age, there is on excuse for not communicating with your clients. Either it's in stock, or it's not. If you say it's stock, then shipping it doesn't take weeks.

In the 70's I founded a mail order business that you're all familiar with and without the internet, computers etc, stock items were turned around in the same day. If we didn't have the item we didn't accept orders or money until we had it in stock.

Anyone else have problems like this. You order and then you wait, wait and wait some more.

Third thread like this in 2 days. Long waits are normal with them. They have a banner on their home page apologizing and explaining why. Don't order from them if you don't like it or want next day turn around.

You should post this in the CanadaAmmo forum.

They seem to be dropping the ball a bit on orders. I think one guy is still waiting after 5 weeks for an in stock order. Thats too long, i don't care how busy you are. Free shipping or not. Some guys don't care about the wait, some do.

So, I go to an extrmely busy/popular restaurant and look over the menu...hmm...looks like they have steak on special.
I order the steak and wait for my order.
An hour goes by...well I guess they're busy...and the price is great.
I wait for 3 hours...well pretty busy here...maybe they had to go to their supplier to get my steak...and the price, great.
6 hours later, still waiting for my order...no word from the waiter...well I guess it's busy...price is great...
And sometimes I get my order the same day...friends have gotten theirs in an hour or two...they love it.

I can't imagine most people would have this attitude in a restaurant...but, if I ever opened a restaurant I want you as my customers...lol
