How many 10/10 mags would you buy?

A small clarification.
Questar didn't get their LAR15 mags approved for use in Rifles.

They had them recognized as 'Pistol' mags.


The AIA mags are a different bag.
Just the fact that this thread is in the 'Main Battle Rifles' section says it all.

The obvious intention is to 'play' the system.
I sense a raid in the near future..........

Outstanding post
The internet and what we post on it , will be our undoing.
It is the "intentions" that will be scrutinized, not the mag itself.
The LAR15 is a "range only, by ATT only" firearm, as is the AR15. This is a HUGE difference when looking at a AIA mag and the M14 as both are nonrestricted. This situation is gonna cause hurdles for any importer in my opinion.
And we, the internet, need to stfu about it hehehe

Designed and manfactured for..... Thats what matters its not about right or wrong its about the way the law was written. If someone can think of a way to play the system for the benfit of target shooters whats wrong with that. Its not like they made something just for a magazine it was a company that manfactured a product brought it to market and wants to sell it. IF people want it they can buy it if no one wants it no one buys it. In the USA when the assualt rifle ban came in companys had the same gun that met the defention just a little diffren't manfactured and ready to sell 1 week after. Some companys went out of busniess because of that law and no longer exist.
 
It would seem that the first attempt to play the system with 20/20 AIAish magazines resulted in the seizure of 5000 units.

The Travor uses AR 15 magazines which means the LAR 15 magazines fit in it. Allot of why the RCMP don't like things like this is because they want to controll the market and force there policy of gun control on to everyone. The fact is they make policys that negativly impact people and try to mask it as law.

Well if I did the paper work to send my AIA rifle to the US (lots of paper work) I know of a company that will custom make a 50 round drum magazine for it. I just found to send the rifle and magazine to the company to make the product was a huge pain in the rear but they were more then willing to make that product. 50 rounds in a bolt action would be neat.
 
Don't know about neat. Bulky, heavy, awkward and useless maybe. But certainly an interesting example to prove the point. Be interesting to see what happens when the thing reaches CBSA.

i'd throw money into a pool to fund this, just to see what kind of response they manage to muster up when saying "no".

They also had the word "Fits" on it, as in "not really an AIA mag but it fits in one." Big word when legal definitions come into play.

This...

is different legally than this....

"FITS AIA ENFIELD BOLT ACTION MAGAZINE .308 10 ROUND CAPACITY"

The first one in legal jargon IS an AIA Enfield mag. The second is a mag built for another gun that happens to fit in and AIA Enfield.

There would be no difference between an AIA mag, an AIA mag with ""AIA ENFIELD BOLT ACTION MAGAZINE .308 10 ROUND CAPACITY"" laser etched into it post production or an new mag designed for an AIA with ""AIA ENFIELD BOLT ACTION MAGAZINE .308 10 ROUND CAPACITY"". The rifle is already in Canada legally, the mags that came with the rifle are already in Canada legally.

If whoever is making them doesn't want to chance it, they can write a letter to the mounties proposing a new production run of AIA mags with the FRT number for the rifle as reference and see what they say. Or we can keep going around in circles.

Just do it, ask permission or give up.

Well said, but i'd suggest email. They've gotten pretty good at replying to email in a reasonable amount of time these days.
