how many .22's do you own? And why? (hunting/Collecting etc..)

Why do I have them? They are fun, relatively inexpensive to shoot [Except when using certain match ammos @ $15.00/50] And low noise, virtually no recoil. A good one is accurate as h***. Whats not to like?? Regards, Eagleye.

Collecting/investment

I've not counted but probably around 100 +/-.

Due to poor health I can't get out to the range or attend far-away gun shows, so I enjoy my guns by purchasing on the Web. This way I can shop gun auctions from coast-to-coast, AND bid live online during the auction if I wish.

Detailed records are kept of every gun so my survivors will have LOTS of information on how much each item cost, detailed photos for identification/insurance, and best prospects for them to sell to are all listed.

I limit my collecting parameters to: older, cheap in their day, .22rf single-shot guns made in US or Canada. Don't want a dozen of each, just one of each distinctive TYPE OF ACTION. For example, my straight pull bolt is a Ross 1912 Commercial.

The ONLY Winchester bolt action I own is a little Thumbtrigger. For a Winchester drop-block I have an all original Winchester 85 Winder Low Wall Musket in .22 short. Made for govt trainer contract PRIOR to the signing of the Armistice ending WW I.

One I'm most happy with is a little Tobin made in Woodstock, Ontario. Got original Rod And Gun magazine from 1917 offering the rifle as a premium for selling five annual subscriptions. BOTH the gun maker and the magazine publisher were located in Woodstock!!!

In the ad they call it a $5 Boy Scout Rifle. NO TOBIN CATALOG I've found or heard of offers a .22rf rifle. EVERYTHING they list are shotguns! (?) It's like they never heard of these little guys.

Still need to find a Cooey, preferably military marked.

Currently I have 3, 2X Cooey model 75's had to get 2 crappy ones to get one good one, use that for fun at the range, the other one I have is a Lakefield Mossberg MK I, that I hate, the stock was built for a midget, and is bastard-grained, the plastic trigger guard is cracked, I tried to do a trigger job on it (trigger pull must have seriously been 12 lbs ) but this has messed up the proper operation of the bolt(now falls out when you retract it to reload) and the bolt body does not appear to be heat treated very well, interestingly though it has one of those old Bushnell .22 scopes from the 1970's that has a dovetail with a corresponding dovetail base that screws tight with allen screws.

I think part of my addiction is that when I was a kid I used to pore over every Eatons, Bay, Sears, and Canadian Tire catalogue, every brochure from CIL, Winchester, Remington, Ithaca, etc., and go through the Shooter's Bible like my life depended on it. I'm sure I drooled and longed for every single rifle I ever laid my eyes on back then, at one time or another. And then when I discovered OTHER makes and models that I hadn't seen back then, well, it just made it worse.

I should update my list :D

1) Kimber SVT .22 LR
2) Walther KKM single shot .22 LR with custom stock
3) Walther KKM single shot .22 with regular stock and aperature sights
4) One Walther KKJ magazine fed .22 LR (for shooting but this one is also set aside for collecting, since it's in perfect shape with good wood on the original stock)
5) Ruger K10/22T
6) Tactical sollutions .22 AR-15 upper varmint flat top model.

7) Ruger MKIII Target .22
8) Ruger MKIII Hunter .22

Hey last but not least,
I've got:
Ruger 1022 SS with a Tapco Fusion stock- looks like a tactical rifle with a 25rd Beaver Creek smoke coloured mag.
Savage model 5, bolt action repeater- approx. 68yrs old
Henry Lever Action- Frontier Model with the octagon barrel
Remington 552 semi-auto

I jump on as well and breathe some life into this thread!

I own 3 rimmies: 10/22 Sporter, SR22, Remington 572.

They are all for plinking, a little target here and there but generally just for enjoyment. I'm a person who buys things to use them (not rich) and I'm not really a hunter (squirrel excepted) so I don't really trek through the bush too much. More often than not I just sit at a picnic table and plink away or walk through the bush and remove pests when they appear.

Started out figuring I would only need one rimfire but lo and behold I seem to be stuffing the gun safe with them as of late. Actually going to thin the herd a little and get it down to just 2 or 3 keepers. That being said, I do have my eye on a very nice 1950's manufactured Marlin Mountie................

Anyways as of right now though I have the following:

Sturm-Ruger 10-22 Deluxe
CZ 452 lux lefty
Ithaca M49R
Henry Frontier
Marlin 57 Royal Canadian in .22 mag
