How many different handguns do Canada's Police, Border Officers, Military, etc, Use ?

I noticed the stainless Smith autos are really heavy. They work pretty good for keeping your spare targets from blowing off the bench if it's windy. :p

NAA.

Piperdown, I'm gonna guess it was a Beretta that they first announced before it was the S&W?
Second guess is a Glock of some sort.

OPP TRU uses Sig X5s, yes single action and yes 9mm. They had precedent with their previous High Powers for SA 9mm.

Slavex gets a gold star, now what model hmmm?

92D with mag disconnect? Or was it a G? hmmm no I think D.
Further if I remember the old rumor mill, Beretta ended up losing out because of social ties between upper brass and S&W. I think dowries and some plantation lands might have been involved too. :D It was a very tinfoil hat story I heard at the very least filled with daytime soap opera drama.

Crap. I was right about the model, just too late. Lol

I forgot to mention something in my previous posts....

Back in post #15 there was mention of ERT using a TSW pistol. That is wrong (surprise....). It's a regular 5946 that's been coated black (the recent ones out of the armorers shop are done with cerakote).

Manitoba Conservation (NROs) switched to SIG 226 9mms last year.

We say that our Glock 22 .40SWs were too difficult to qualify with, and were experiencing frame rail failure too quickly.

I still think the Glock's a more usable gun. Maybe the 9mm Glock would be a better choice, although the .40 might have a bit of an edge on dispatching Bear and roadside moose. The 9mm would be easier to qualify with and may experience less slide wear.

My personal choice would be a Glock 17.

The VPD Sigs are speciaaaaal too.

The only reason I recalled anything about that Beretta thing is cuz of Piperdown from years ago, plus Ernest, and a couple of other peoples stories on it.
I am now programmed to say CZ.........

I hear Abby PD is going to go with Kahr 9mms next year though, along with a Mini 14 patrol rifle.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary have Sigs in .40. I don't know what model. I was surprised they went for something that upscale.

You're mistaken Slavex. I know a guy who's buddy's brothers friend just got hired there and he say's they're going to Norc 1911 Police models in .40 (special order) and SKS's. They are going to sell the surplus Glock 22,23 and 27's plus C8's and Stag's at public auction.:ar15:
