How much ammo are you keeping in the gun room these days?

They can trace you in a few keystrokes, and they don't need a search warrant to do it. I doubt the govt is going crazy searching for cgners who list their guns in their posts, after all they have the registry.

I get a kick out of some people's compulsion to list everything they own in the signature line. Seems a bit stupid, like the car guys who put a $1000 hitek spoiler on the trunk lid of their $500 car. They think it says something about them, and it does, just not what they think. But life is all about glitz and showing off now days. I guess it's impressive to the other people of the same mindset. Reminds me of going to the middle east, seeing the new mercedes parked in front of the mud hut. Real impressive.

I don't really see what the big deal is about talking about how much ammunition people keep around for a rainy day. Prices go up every year, and by the time some of us are old enough to retire, we won't be able to afford to keep shooting. This is why I have started stocking up on ammunition. I have really only been stocking up for about 6 months or so, I do buy something every week, even if its only a 5 pack of slugs. Ammunition lasts for something like 100 years if its stored properly, so it makes total sense to buy all the ammunition you can afford to buy now, and save it for when you may not be able to buy it. Its a pretty plain and simple answer. I could care less if someone is monitorying what is said about my ammunition stockpile. Just my 2cents.

Its kind of funny to hear people say....you better watch out what you say because people are watching......do you seriously think that the RCMP is watching this website because they believe someone might be thinking about starting a revolution, or a Koo, and they are bragging about how much guns and ammo they have....lol........This is ridiculous. We are just about of gun lovers who are talking about there stuff, with abunch of other supposedly gun lovers also......Why try to make something out of nothing.

Anyways sorry about my rant. Now onto the real thread. I said earlier that I have really only had this idea about stocking up for retirement for about 6 months or so, and I do buy something every week. I don't have nothing impressive so far in storage, but this is what I have currently:

7.62x39 surplus = 1400 rounds
30/06 various hunting types = 120 rounds
9mm FMJ target shooting = 360 rounds
22LR various types = 2500 rounds
12 gauge slugs = 50 rounds
12 gauge buckshot = 50 rounds
12 gauge gameshot various loads = 150 rounds
12 gauge target loads = 250 rounds

I don't exactly have enough ammuntion to start a Canadian Milita, but its a start. I would like to have enough ammunition in storage so that when I do retire in 20 + years, I won't have to buy any ammunition at all, unless its some new type of ammo that just come out that I want to try out.
 
I have seen pics posted on here with 20+ and 50+ crates of x39. The member with the 50+ IIRC wanted another 50 cases as a goal. Both members mentioned that the pics only represented their x39 stashes, not their other calibers/reloading supplies.

There are so many valid reasons to have what may seem to some to be large amounts of ammo. Buy as much as you can afford and have space for. I know ammo doesn't go bad and I know for sure it doesn't get cheaper.

My end goal is to have enough x39 put away that my children's children will still be shooting "that ammo grand dad bought that we can't get anymore"

You guys keep track? If I touch off fifty from my .308, I'll go buy new brass to load a hundred. :rolleyes:

And if I shoot a hundred 9mm or .22lr, I'll buy triple of either, or both. :rolleyes::D
 
Yup, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

There are several reasons to keep mum about what you have. If the trolls don't know what you have, and I'm not talking LEOs, they won't target your house.

Another reason, and this time LEO oriented, if I read the regulations correctly, there is a limit to the amount of powder and primers you are allowed to have in your premises. The powder and primers in your loaded ammunition is included in those weights.

Why on earth do you want to implicate yourself when there is absolutely no need for it? Say something, beyond your control happens and the LEOs come into your domicile to collect your firearms and ammunition, as well as all of your loading paraphenalia all that you're doing, is giving them an excuse for a warrant and ultimately a criminal charge.

The next biggie are the anti trolls, they gobble up this stuff and use it against you in the media. Why give them more BS to spin?

Keep a low profile and they will leave you alone. The LEOs, for the most part couldn't care less if you have ten rounds or ten thousand rounds. Just don't rub their noses in it. As far as thieves go, this type of thread is a treasure hunt.

Geologist isn't troll. He's been here forever and has over 6000 posts. Some people just like to show off.

I do agree that the police/rcmp, cfc and anti's do monitor this site however so it is up to your discretion to post that info.
