Id rather have it in 7.62x54r than 7.62x51. What I really want to see is a CZ-858 or CSA Carbine in 5.45x39 and some cheap surplus to go with them.

Not a hunk of s-h-i-t made in china.
If you think Norinco guns are "hunks of 5hit" you are right out 'er.
They aren't as shiny and polished as guns from other manufacturers but my friends Norc 226 shoots the exact same as a Sig Sauer in my hands.
Same goes for the Norc AR15's vs any other.
They function and shoot just as well as any variant I've shot.
The Norc M305 a "hunk of 5hit"?! Come on man, you must be joking....
I stand by my original statement.
I'd take one in 5.45x39 it would be better then 7.62x51 or 54R since there already good guns in those calibers and making them in the stronger calibers would require them to make it all or most of from scratch.... So more $$$. If they made 5.45 they could use some or most of the parts since its slightly weaker round of approximately same length
1. 5.45 surplus is just as if not cheaper then 7.62x39 in the states so it would probly be quite cheap here to
2. 5.45 is inherently more accurate then 7.62x39
3. The gun in 5.45 would only be slightly more then 7.62x39 vs almost double as much with a 7.62x51 version
But that's just my opinion

OK, I have been in touch with CSA and this project is do-able.
But.......
This requires a considerable financial commitment to cover the cost of re-tooling. I would need to make an order of about 1,000 rifles just to cover tooling costs. Not to mention the cost of about 10%-20% more per rifle over the existing cost of a VZ.
I'll keep my eyes on this thread to gauge the interest, but to the majority that voted that they would pay $ 800 or under, that would never happen.

I believe I said I would be willing to pay more if necessary, and that I do not believe I am alone in this respect.
As for what's wrong with me, that's a subject for a different thread.
