**Huge CGN .264 Bullet Test Result** (lots of pics!)

Awsome test, from your results I will be sticking with my 129 Hornady IL's load for my 6.5x55 it looks like it will get the job done. Thanks Steve much appreciated.

Take a look at the max velocity for the bullet weight that you're intested in and take off about 100-150fps, that should be the impact velocity of my test.

Thanks for that, I used my husky 6.5x55 to take my first deer (the biggest one I've ever gotten). I wasn't reloading at the time but have been using Hornady 140 IL with some success since then. From what I've seen here I might try the 129's thanks for your hard, but I 'm sure it was fun work.
 
This is the kind of information that redeems the internet Steve, you'd better go start a bear defense thread before people start getting ideas.

I love this stuff, maybe it's just me but I find expanded bullets fascinating.

I don't even care if if you start the .30 cal bullet tests next month.

So long as we have the results in time for this hunting season.

I'm not surprised the 125 Nosler Partitions certainly held thier own.....even against bullets of heavier weight.......I love em, glad they helped;)

The 130 TSX results simply look Stupendous !
I've switched to them for my "Goto" load but have yet to field test them :onCrack:

Sorry guys but no .30 cal bullet test from me. I don't even have a .30 cal rifle! Somebody should take on the challenge though:rockOn: . Start saving you newspapers!!!

Yeah I could still do a .22, a 7mm and a .44 but don't hold me to this. I would probably have to buy my own pulp mill first! I think it's someone else turn to pick up the torch. BT would be a good candidate, he seems to be a fellow bullet and ballistic freak.;)
 
It's interesting to note also that at these moderate speeds, there's pretty much no such thing as a bad bullet choice. They all expanded well and penetrated satisfactorly. It's be interesting to compare these results to full-on balls-to-the-wall 264mag loads (or even 25-06 loads)
 
Oh, I know. I've been looking at those. I got a book from Richard Mann, the guy who invented those. There pretty cool and apparently consistent. One bullet is often enough to represent the expected result and you can see the wound cavity. The only drawback is you can only shoot one bullet per tube before you go back home, melt it, pour it back in the mold and wait for it to set. With the bullet test I did that would be 23 trips to the range. I'm sure I'll end up getting one or two of those:D .
 
Well, if you got 3, you could do one set of tests each time you were at the range.

Or, you could use a coleman stove (or any sort of backpacker stove) at the range between groups while you're waiting for the barrel to cool.

Between the base tube and 'mag' extender, as well as exchange and shipping these would be maybe 200/each. That's 30 people donating $20 bux to ya. Hell, you could just say that anyone who donates bullets to you should also donate $20 for you to do the test :p
