Hunting in Sask is gonna cost more in 2017

Ya you can blame the Russians...seems popular today. You can blame OPEC, China, Japan and Puffdaddy. You can start your name calling...Sk closet NDP'r...which BTW is pretty weak but at the end of the day, Brad had a decade and didnt do a damn thing. Here we sit a day away from an increase in PST,,,other forms of taxation are coming and cuts to all kinds of services. Roads are still ####, hospitals #### and now I gotta pay for firewood ( this pisses me off the most)

Why do you feel entitled to "free" firewood? Lol. Why not "free" gas, "free" food, "free" electricity?

What about all the new hospitals, care homes and schools that were built in the last 10 years? The billions of debt that was paid down? The thousands of kilometres of roads that were rebuilt, and the thousands more that were repaired and resurfaced? You can't seriously expect a government to fix the 25 years of Devine/Romanow/Calvert Fock ups overnight.

I'm glad we have a fiscally responsibile government that is choosing the lesser of two evils by raising the PST rather than punishing the makers by raising income taxes. Debt is unacceptable and Something has to be done.

I'm curious to know how you think they should go about balancing the budget?

Bull####. Public employees make more than private employees across the board. Wall used that rainy day fund to pay down the debt, saving us interest.

I' don't have time to go dig up stats, but I wouldn't be surprised if public employees in low to mid paying jobs are paid better. It doesn't seem to be true on the mid to high end though. I've been a software developer for 16 years. People who have left to go work for the government said that the pay was less but the retirement package was better.

As for how well they have or haven't done recently, in the past 22 years the Sask Party has had more deficit budgets (five) than the NDP did (three).

Finally, people abuse sick leave in private companies as well. My previous company got rid of separate sick leave and just gave people an extra week of vacation time, which was pretty sweet for those people that didn't get sick as much.

Yes I am!

Nice cliche to avoid the topic at hand, if you #### up damn right I'm gonna say something, there are repercussions in this life. However in this society the weak and useless are awarded while the strong and productive are reprimanded.

FYI, this isn't Brad Walls mess , but he is there to clean it up, voluntarily by running for and being elected to public office , what did you do?

NDP or Liberal, the public sector employees wield too much power and this would be the same no matter who is in power.

In what other part of the world do essential services and teachers threaten with walking off the jobs?

Again, dig deep to find the root of the problem here, it might be staring many back at them since we are delegating blame.

Of course....lets point the finger at someone else.

Oh and none of that extra revenue is going to fish and game.....its going into our 2 Billion dollar plus debt that so kindly got our province in since he took power.

I have zero issue with rate increases that go directly into wildlife and habitat investments,,but when none of that extra cash goes near those and they cut CO's time and pay in the field,,I have an issue with that and so should any other sportsman in Sask.

Robbing Peter to save Paul. (OR effing around with OUR revenue!!)

It's what governments do best for the last one hundred years or thereabouts, to totally screw the little guy and his cash sparse wallet.

Meanwhile SGI is doing JUST Fine I am sure...........and soon an SGI supporter on CGN is going to jump on my back, I am pretty sure of that.

So what is everyone going to apply for to hunt this year? I think I'll just apply into WMZ99 for this year for the three species I was going to apply for....that'll teach them to raise tag prices!! :HR:

I'll probably go black bear, whitetail, muley draw, and moose draw this year. Of course I'll have to save my pop cans, eat at the soup kitchen, and...you guessed it, sell some firewood to afford it.;)

Moose $42.00
Elk $64.00
Whitetail $42.00
Habitat $11.00

$159.00

If successful at least 500 lbs of meat. What does $159.00 buy at the butcher shop?

I'll apply for your tags then. I may even buy a bird license just to do my part to keep revenue up.

hunting will be the least of the increases, I still wonder why we have to see any increases if they just spend less than they have in, we all do this at home, can not afford the rifle, well it will have to wait

But then we'd have to pay for stuff like firewood out of our own pockets. The horror!!!

^^^^
Hopefully you arent a parent with children in the sask education system. Wait til you see the cuts
And decrease in spending on resources and the facilities.

If i am lucky i get a pay decrease and 9 un paid days off
If i am unlucky no job

Its not just about the increase in the hunting fees for some of us

Many people have had luck that bad or worse already, and they are mostly the ones who pay their taxes from income earned in the private sector, where it actually counts. Not that publicly funded jobs don't contribute anything of value, but it's not in money given back to the government.

Government is expensive, and we've been having a lot more of it than we've been paying for, for a long time. The choice is between facing it now or facing worse later.

there are a lot of people who don't pay for firewood, unless you count their time, gas and bar oil. When I heated my house with wood, I paid for the hardwood; however I got my own cedar for free. I know you're likely being sarcastic but its the second time ive read about free wood on here lol
