Hunting in Sask is gonna cost more in 2017

You think the NDP left the province in the black and the Green Party has created all this debt? Too funny. I can remember passing through SK weekly years back when it was NDP held and it was like a wasteland. Places looked so old and run down, land and property was worth nothing. It seemed like everyone drove a 25 year old vehicle. Young people in jobs was not like it is now because they left for greener pastures. Thats not the SK I see today. I can live with a few $ extra in licenses. SK has the least expensive license/draw system in Canada and even with the increase, still will. None of us likes increased prices or fees but can you imagine what the costs would be if everything went on a user fee basis so only those making use of certain services paid for them as opposed to the whole?

I'm in my 40's and remember high school days were you got a job based on who you or your parents knew as there was SH!T for available jobs. After graduation you stayed only if you had work, or were going to school everyone else moved to Alberta or BC just to get away from the wasteland. Mr Rowmanow tightened up the purse strings and paid down a huge debt a job that was momentus but he did it. However, the purse strings stayed tight until just before they lost control of the Provincial government to the Sask party but not before slightly lowering business tax levels(Something the sask party had been promising if they got in, and pushed for).

Sask party came in and continued with a business friendly environment that they had been promising and we took the boom to new levels. with oil and gas growth, huge potash, uranium, resurgence of logging, pulp and paper mills reopening. They also fixed our terrible infrastructure, improved hospital wait times, but most of all made Saskatchewan a proud, successful province a place to be proud to say you lived not just to be from!!

Now, we have an economic downturn that we have been experiencing for 3 years in most places of Canada and the rest of the world (We were insulated for longer) and everyone is suffering a bit and tightening the belts up. Suck it up people. It could have been much worse, and would have with a different party in power! If you don't like it! LEAVE!!! You definitely will not be missed!!!

He's at it again...slowly squeezing every cent he can get out of the people of Sask. Next on the line is a big increase in camping fees, park passes and no free wood at campsites from what I was told.

Did you demonstrate in from of the Leg building a few weeks ago? Sounds like you should have been one of them!!!

I remember what it was like under Devine. The NDP came in and had a massive debt to pay off. I'm not sure how much Wall had to do with the success of the province, resources overall were up worldwide. I am disappointed that the Sask Party never actually contributed to the rainy day fund like they said they would, and now we've got nothing set aside for lean times.

Anyways, I've got no problem with fees increasing with inflation, it's still not that expensive overall. Increases past the actual cost isn't cool though.

Lastly, people are ragging on public sector employees having prime benefits. What you aren't taking into account is that they negotiated better benefits at the expense of lower wages.

Just ANOTHER tid-bit for you all to absorb....

The ones protesting and complaining the most about cut backs are the primary cause and expense for where we are now with the $1.2B , seriously ,it is that simple.Anybody want to argue it, be my guest.

No party in power is able to curtail the abuse and power that the public sector employees hail, the system was pushed to the brink and now the collapse begins.

Take a minute and think, am I part of the solution or an addition to the problem?

Don't like the way politics are? Throw your hat in the ring.

it's always about ME , ME , RIGHT NOW!!

Serious folks , the big picture to some of you is the price of firewood and license fees?? This is beyond a self centered mentality when certain parts of the country are heading for recession.

Remember also, PRIVATE money funds this province!!

I guess it has to get worse before people will truly understand how good they have had it for years. When worrying about free parking and plug-ins at work for your vehicle is replaced with walking to find a job to be able to eat , then it will kick in, and maybe even then, some will still be expecting to get coddled. The correction has to come.

"No free firewood, boohoohoo".

Good grief. The entitlement is strong with this one.

I used to play hockey on a hockey team that had a partial sponsorship from one of the unions that represents our city workers in a major city in Saskatchewan. Not all players on the team worked in a unionized city job, however all that did have unionized positions took regular sick days when the after game activities went later than normal. This is no joke, the sick day policy was heavily abused and laughed about!! Me being a public sector, no unionized commission based employee had to suck it up and work..... My 2 cents, I don't feel sorry for those protesting, a small uptick in hunting fee's, paying for more stuff in campgrounds and such. Taking one less shift in a week and therefore earning a bit less. Being commission based without a pension when things tighten up, I am affected as the next guy as my income drops along with everyone else as does my ability to put away for retirement also goes down which will make me have to work longer, Oh Well!!. I don't cry and whine like a little B*tch I tighten my belt up a bit and grin and bear it! Or I go without!!

Does the warden laugh at you when you "report" them? If he can keep a straight face, don't play poker against him.:p Just about everything on your list is considered a pest, with no license, closed season or limit. Beaver have a bounty on them in the three RMs I still own land in.

I'm glad you said it because when I reĂ d it I thought oh here he goes again spewing more grow them zoo age drivel.

Bull####. Public employees make more than private employees across the board. Wall used that rainy day fund to pay down the debt, saving us interest.

Yep. What does a government liquor retail clerk make compared to a private liquor store clerk? A Sasktel employee vs a Bell employee?

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he used the rainy day fund for a rainy day, specifically the floods and fires we've had in the last few years.

I usually try to avoid paying pst by doing most of my shopping on the AB side of town or order online.

Sadly I will be shopping more in Alberta too but how does this help our local business people. Great for Prophet River, bad for Prairie Gun Traders......Perhaps its the sense of "entitlement" I read about in this thread that is driving me to do this or maybe its just some stupid choices our govt has made????? Feel sorry for Sask businesses.....they are in for a world of hurt.

In my case I would get nothing if I gave you $100, so that wouldn't be too smart. But your line of thought is welcomed by the typical socialist. ;)

Well my only concern is spending the least amount of money for the best service, the more money I have in my bank the better. Call me what you like... Entitled, NDP'er, Greener, Liberal, Conservative,,,whatever...doesn't really bother me at all.

Cheers!!

The debt was caused from wall and the Sask party fixing the years and years of NDP trimming. Terrible roads that looked like they belonged in Beruit or modern day Syria. All the hospital shut downs and medical back logs. We are still making uo for lost time. Then the financial markets tightened up, potash prices drooped cause of Russian lowballing, over production and china's economic problems, oil prices dropped cause if the glut in the market, and OPEC not slowing production. Uranium hit cause of Fukushima. But it's all walls fault. You sound like a closet Saskatchewan Ndp'r posing as a Saskatchewan resident.......

Ya you can blame the Russians...seems popular today. You can blame OPEC, China, Japan and Puffdaddy. You can start your name calling...Sk closet NDP'r...which BTW is pretty weak but at the end of the day, Brad had a decade and didnt do a damn thing. Here we sit a day away from an increase in PST,,,other forms of taxation are coming and cuts to all kinds of services. Roads are still ####, hospitals #### and now I gotta pay for firewood ( this pisses me off the most)

I have to ask, how much does firewood cost (on a burning wood at the lake type situation)? You know of no one with a chainsaw?

Instead of #####ing on here about the increased taxes and license costs, write your local member of parliament. Voice your concerns with them, whining on here gets you nowhere and accomplishes nothing. This is a hunting forum, not a politics forum.

Union worker?

Big inheritance?

What I blame is an entitled society.

I posted just SOME of the costs and why they are there.

If you think the world sucks and is against you.......................well you know the rest.
