I was just thinking that there is a wealth of hunting experience available on this site, and there should be a thread devoted to passing along some of the things we do that work.
For eg; I always tape the muzzle of my rifles (with electricians tape) to keep out snow, dirt, etc. Not long ago I started having the tape a couple of inches longer on one side, so that after I shoot through it, I can take it off and re-apply it. That's a time when you are likely to be putting your rifle down or leaning it against something and stuff is likely to find its way into the muzzle.
