Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Good Afternoon all, after considerable lurking looking for a bit of help with history on this Viking Arms 1900, bought on a whim to go with the couple other Huskys and S&L's in the safe. Rifle was advertised as 6.5x55 and bore mic's out right however haven't shot it yet, nowhere on barrel is there a caliber stamp and its also a much heavier contour than I am used to seeing on Huskys. Stock does not appear to match the action, looks like it had some rough out work done to accommodate the heavy barrel contour.

Receiver has some awesome engraving, floor plate also may not be stock? Would have expected to see some engraving on it as well. Plans so far are to find a nicer piece of furniture and possibly rebarrel to 35 Whelan some time down the road.

as soon as I figure out Pics I will throw some up as well.

Well, from what it sounds, you may have a FrankenViking... It may be ver difficult to determine what it first was.
Post some pics and we can help, we'll do.

That looks like an early Zoli made action for sure. The stock may be original, as per it seems on par with what Viking Arms used to provide. I've seen some old Zoli stamped that way too, the barrels were not engraved nor stamped, tough the floorplate was scroll etched.

This is a Husqvarna Fn98 model 648, I picked up a month a go.
It Cleaned up fine and it was already Glass bedded and free floated. Just working up some loads for it now.

Very nice. Planning on fixing the cracked tang?

I believe it was previously repaired with the bedding of the action. I've fired about sixty rounds through it so far with no no change to the crack.
But I will keep a very close eye it, and redo the repair if necessary.

There can’t be too many who can make this claim - one owner for 59 years, I bought it new in Eaton’s department store in Halifax in 1963. .270 Win. Model 4000, all steel bottom metal, 20 1/2” barrel fitted with ramp and front sight but no accommodation for a rear sight, drilled and tapped for receiver sight or scope. Monte Carlo stock ( non monte carlo was the 4100, the Model 5000 was less money, 21 inch barrel with sights and aluminum bottom metal, plain wood). I hunted this rifle hard for many years, mainly as my sheep, goat and caribou mountain rifle, backpacking and horse hunting. Always carefully maintained but when the inevitable knocks, bumps and bruises became too hard to bear I had both metal and wood refinished and at the same time had the redundant front sight and ramp removed. About the only BC game not to fall to the old girl is grizzly, now semi retired but it has probably put a boxcar full of game on the ground.
