Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

What type of 98 action would be on this Husqvarna FN, 640? I’m asking because to use Leupold bases I had to use a shim under the rear moun to get it level, I’ve run into this before on a 98 Zastava Leupold sent me some shims explaining the 98 action has many variations shims are required on some models.

Another curious item is a third Magpul sling mount just forward of the trigger guard what could it be used for?Feb 71side.jpgfeb 8 3bottom.jpg

If you know it's a HVA FN 98 action, then you have your answer... it's very hard to tell which version of the variations it is from these pictures, as per the rifle was heavily modified.
I have used a lot of Leupold mounts with these rifles and usually they are easy to fit well...

Edit; It's a FN98 post '49 ``Commercial`` action.

Thank you I found this on gunboatds explains why I had to shim the rear bridge

From 1946 to somewhere in 1947, they used, as you said, the military action, standard "C-type" with thumb notch and charger clip lips on the rear bridge.
1947 saw an intermediate form of the "sporter" action; they removed the charger clip bridge lips (but they kept the "hump") and made the action "solid wall". This action was still a "C-type".
Then, in 1948, the "H-type" appeared; it shows the hump, ont he rear brige and the "solid wall" with still a wing type safety.
All the above had the standard floorplate, not the "improved" ones.
Late 1948 to early 1949, the 'hump" of the rear bridge was removed, and in the same period the rear bridge was d&t for a receiver sight and the new floortplate with the modified catch (and hinge) and a low scope safety was used. Just after that came the D&T for the standard Weaver type bases.

Sounds familiar.... :sneaky:

I'm looking at picking up another husq 46, that has been drilled and tapped for a side mount.
Does anyone know what the screws are for that to plug them?

If Potashminer 's suggestion doesn't work (odd thread pattern), you can get a set of cheap small go-no go thread gauges from the Usual Scumbags. They will be Grade-A chinesium, but good enough to check a thread pattern. Wouldn't recommend taking it to the Home Depot to check in-store :D

I have a side mount that came with my 9.3 x 62; I like it. You can sight under the scope to the irons, and a couple seconds, it is quick detach.IMG_4571.jpg

Intersurplus now has filler screws for the side mount holes. (It's amazing how much better a rifle looks with those holes filled.)

Can anyone point me to what kind of trigger/safety this might be. On a new to me husky 640. Functions great, trigger is real nice. Obviously an old school aftermarket trigger/safety system but it works
