Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Where would one begin to look for one of these fine rifles? Didn't really see anything that caught my eye at trade-ex.

I have three, now.

TheHusqvarnaTriplets.jpg

The first I inherited from my Dad, the other two beauties I've recently purchased from Why not? . Send a PM inquiry to Why not? and/or to Baribal on this site as they may have something available. If not they'd likely have a good idea of where to try looking:).

All depends wich direction you want your "collection" to go. If you want a workhorse, then, it's just what you like...
If you want it for collection, then, for the 1640 series, what was originally imported, look for calibers such as .243 Win, 7mm Rem Mag, .308 Win and 7X57. It's a very good starting point. The .270 Win and 30-06 Sprgd are "quite common".
You can try to get a H-5000, a 3000 Crown Grade one late, one early - a 3100 would just be so GREAT! - it's a real "rare" item -, a 4000/4100 any of the "Presentation" or "Imperial" models, correctly stamped as such.... You can try to find Epps creation... some also collect the helstock (fullstock) variations models 456/458...
For European production, you need to have have some in (originally chambered, no rechamberings) in 9.3X62, .358 NM. - the rest of the calibers are "less desireable"....
They had the same basic model lines, with slight differences, and different names.
From there, you can also collect the Dalhberg rifles....

Then, you also need a 46 and a 46A (M/94 in 9.3X57), a 46B (M/94 in 6.5X55) a 146 (a M/98 in 9.3X57), at least one early 640, based on the M/38 (9.3X62 is THE one), one of the early 640 using a M/98 action (8X57 are DIRT CHEAP), one of the "intermediate ones", before the coming of the "H-type" actions, and one late ('49 and later). Then, after you will need another M/98-based rifle, so, you need at least one "1951" or late M/640 and one of the M/1000/1100/2104....

You could also go for any of their single shots rifles - there is plenty of models, the supply just isn't up to the demand.

There are all the 22 and Flobert models, then, you have the double / combination guns and the shotguns....

And 'I'm not talkin' about all the "side productions" Husqvarna ever made...

So, after all, you have the rest of your life to acquire good Husqvarna quality products...

Woodbeef,

Is there something stamped on the barrel wich identifies Epps as the "manufacturer"? If so, can you post - or e-mail me - the details?

Nice rifle, though.

It is not a Buffalo rifle, Baribal. Probably a ladies rifle, as the original butt stock was quite short, and it had a very nicely executed petite wrist.

The barrel is appropriately marked to identify it as an Eppps, but it was certainly not Isabelle's rifle. Marg and I hunted with them, and her rifle was quite a bit lighter contour barrel, and she would not have needed such a short LOP.

Are there any pre-fit recoil pads for 1600's (base stock) in the market? Where to buy/order? I am trying to avoid the Grind-to-fit pads, if possible. Appreciate any advise.

No, there's none to my knowledge, all the HVA stocks were hand fitted and they all show different.

Woodbeef,
I"ll be waiting for the pics. This may help other people to identify their "Epps HVA Custom".

Ted,
Epps did anything his customers wanted, as you know, and there are some out there with "special features".
Nice rig you found there and you've been a lucky fellow to hunt with a "Canadian Gun Legend".

Yes, they were both very fine people. Elwood had one of the loudest laughs you ever heard, but rarely did so. He built a gorgeous 7X57 for her on a Husqvarna with a birds eye maple stock. It would be nice to find that one!

....... a 3100 would just be so GREAT! - it's a real "rare" item .......

You mean like this one, that someone "customized" ?

Yes, Ted,

Seems you have them all up there, don't you? Even in that "condition" it's a nice catch.

Well, Baribal, I have had at least a few calibers in every bolt action centerfire model, including the 222 Rem Running Boar Rifle, and a 30-06 Presentation Grade with the engraved receiver and barrel. Have been selling off my collection over the past three years, or so, and have just a few left.

The one I never had, or even saw for that matter, was the 1950 in 220 Swift. Have you ever seen one of them? Were there ever any of them in Canada that you know of?

Never seen one neither, nor did I hear of one. I am tracking down the Dörken Bros / Ruko history for now, so, maybe one day we'll end up knowing at least a part of the whole Cdn HVA story.

I'm not surprised about the 3100s, as I have had quite a few of them in 270, 308, and 30-06. Never saw one in 243.

The Swift? Well, if anyone should have seen them in Canada, it would be yourself! :D

I think it was more of a "local" affair, I mean, some rifles, like those original .358 NM mostly went northwest, here in Quebec they are mostly 4000/4100 and a lot of 3000 Crown Grade. The odd 3100 only shows once in a while, but there are quite a few 3000 in 7mm RM floating around, wich are not as common in some other parts of America. Internet is changing it, though, and we should see more of the "odd ones" in the futur.

Hi there,

I am looking for a Husqvarna rifle chambered in 30-06. My grandfather had one and he loved it. But sold it in the first firearms registry in BC in the early 90s. I saw some here in Fort McMurray at the Outdoors show and have been unable to find out the name of the business that was selling them. Anybody have any insight to where I could possibly get a used one?

Thanks kindly for your help.

You need to check out the Trade Ex site for what you want. http://www.tradeexcanada.com/index.php?option=com_paxgallery&task=table&gid=5

Have fun..............

300 wm

I have a 300 wm HVA-Carl Gustaf-Sweden
The serial # is 2 digits followed by the year it was manufactured?
The year also appears on the underside of the bolt.
Any info would be appreciated.

First, we need to know if it's a Carl Gustav or a HVA..
starting in 1972, Carl Gustav took over the manufaturing of the "1970" action, nameley 1900 (quite the same as the Zoli 1900), wich is a push feed action.
And, no, the CG manufacture did not use the four last digits for the year of manufacture.
