Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

baribal-i really appreciate how you're trying to help- thank you! i wonder if theres a way through the hva main company (of course i guess ill $) that they could go through their data base files or whatever documents and send that damn ser#A info?? If you have any suggestions on what later models that i should keep looking for i'd appreciate it! I'm gonna buy that other crosspin 1640 but now it seems the pickings are getting slim. love the 1600 series vg-ex only and only wood with lines that warm the heart. Which ones are the rarest ones??? silly newbie questions but this is how i learn thnx B2012

B2012,

HVA (Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag) is long gone, don't mix up with Husqvarna's other divisions, wich were separated from the mother company very early in the 20th century.
We've been trying to get informations from HVA museum since years. You still can try, but I really doubt you'll get any better results than we got over the last 30-25 years....
As for model scarceness, you will find most of what you want by reading the whole thread.

Thnx Baribal, for the moment im distracted from the ser#a issue since im getting another 1640, nicee sweet straight lines, crosspins, verygood+ cond, will have in my hands tomorrow with a sweet little .22lr as well. gonna post pics.

Another 1640 Std, w/ steel floorplate / trigger guard. The matching scope rings will be very hard to come by, though.

you ever have one of those days!!!!!arghhhhh!!!!you know one of those days! took the 1640 out of the box fell in love, started to clean, quick swipe with wood oil, took trusty old oiled rag to clean metal worked my way up to the sights and then arrrrrggggghh!!!serious pitting aound front sight. whatever was there to camouflage came off the more i rubbed exposed lack of blueing and some nasty pits!!!none of this was in description or clearly shown in pics before purchase. This ones going back boys!!!but the 22lr i got was sweet. Too ####en bad because like i say i fell for her and then she turned on me, that being said i have to tell myself that there are no problems only solutions!! i got the deep pit blues, man o man wat a turnaround

Any of you Husky fans doing a nasty deed and reshaping the bolt to clear a scope?
Hoping to find a design that doesn't have to carve into the stock. Only way I've found so far is the butterknife style but I want to keep the bolt knob on my 146.

Just scored on a full claw mount rig for my rifle. Now to get the works D&T'd. You purists will shudder I'm sure but the rest of it needed serious salvaging, why not go all the way!

Well, Noel,
You know my position on the subject; unless it's a rare model, or in more than average shape, I don't relly mind about mods, as long as it's well done. It just gives extended life to a respectable firearm. l'et's put them back to service as much as possible.

Then, I am glad you finally found a complete claw mount. What type is it? a barrel sleeve type or a receiver ring mounted one?

Now, regarding the bolt / scope clearance, it really depends on the scope itself. The eyecup bell and zoom rings are more likely to be the things that will interfere with the bolt handle. You can reshape the bolt shank end into a half-cirlcle wich usually will clear the scope quite well. This was commonly done on M/94/38 type when installing a scope.

Ignore the scope here Baribal, have a nice Kahles to sit in its place[2nd pic].

Once the bases are mounted I can figure out the rest and make the dovetail rings to hold what ever scope I please.:) Rings will clamp the tube like most of our modern rifles. The rifle boots a bit too much to have it sitting back in typical euro fashion. I can only go so far here.:p

Ill post pics later but I have a Husqvarna FN-98 Mauser and the one thing I cant figure out about it the little tab on the floor plate.....the plate does not seem to hinge down and depressing the tab seems to do nothing...or does it ?

No hinge. It just comes off, like the standard M/98, but the pin is extended.
With HVA, you have to step to the 1640 to get a hinged floorplate.

Yes, you can. It's in the HVA museum book but there is a copy of it at skydevaaben.com/hvasno/info.xml - not complete but enough for most collectors.

i like them, dont you? psssssst(dont u know the end is coming!!lol) all 1640's Baribal, dont want to impose on the posting, but if you want the barrel pics ill gladly post. one of these have serial# A.

To be able to identify a model, most of the time we need a view of the complete rifle.

Now, Buster95,
I think our friend just fell in love with those rifles.
