I am looking for a .223 ranch gun

...I've been dissuaded from the MR1 by pm from someone who had one.

Care to clarify, please? That seems extremely anecdotal, like choosing not to buy an Acura or Lexus because one guy you know had a bad experience with one, even though Consumer Reports says they're statistically among the best brands you can buy.

The internet is full of credible sources that have posted outstanding reviews of the MR1.

The only reviews that seem to have anything bad to say about it are usually about the looks of the pistol grip model (which I agree with), but for the Scout/Ranch model I posted with a non-pistol grip, I am very curious to know what has swayed you into thinking it's a bad choice.

Lets take a look at what OP wants/doesnt.

Out of your list Robert, all there is is the AR180B.

I dont recommend them or the Benneli MR1s. Like I said, I can not give you a recommendation on either, and with the current criteria I would rather suggest OP looks to more traditional rifles. If I HAD to pick out of his list for his given critera, I guess I would say MR1?

Clearly never used a AR180B, You hit the barrel off the bed of the truck and risk snaping the lower ( not the best truck/farm gun ) Out of the list the Mini 14 target will be only gun in that list capable of shooting 2MOA and NOT be dreaming, Under 1000$, so what live with the 5 less shots. Ain't the end of the world.

But to the OP, guy I bought the T97 from, he used it for Yote hunting. So its capable.

Bird Hunt with under 3 shells, Hunt with 5.

I couldn't get better than 4 moa with my SU-16. I think you got a good one because I have never read of anyone getting moa with a Keltec.

I don't know what you use on a farm but why dismiss the su16? The one I had ran flawlessly . Anybody who can't get 2moa out of it , probably can't do much better with any rifle.its 5lbs, uses lar mags, and$850 all in. Sure there were a couple of broken receivers , probably due to shooter error. so what , if it breaks your the origional owner you have warranty. Just because 5 or 6 people on here says it's crap, don't mean it's so. Do a google search, you might find 3 or 4 broken receivers out of the 10,s of thousands that were sold. You should have no problem out to 300 yards , on a coyote.

I saw one for 450 and they just re enforced the broken receiver with steel and kept on shooting it.

maybe people should try some decent ammo, not use norc, then complain about the accuracy. I don't know what every one else were getting but I know what I could do with it. It's the same with the XCR ,some guys are saying 3or 4 moa, I got 1 moa ,with quality factory ammo. Maybe there's a few lemons out there ,I don't know.

I can't remember all the hunting ammo I tried, but I do not own any norc ammo nor was the ammo I did use cheap.

Well maybe every now and then a few good ones are made. I know what mine did,and I've read others on the keltec forum who've said the same. I had the latest version ,not sure if that matters or not.

You're right is was just anecdotal just like yours, but it sounded quite genuine, it sounded like he put a lot of effort in to making it accurate and it just disappointed. Maybe he's just a bad shot. But it was a pretty convincing anecdote. In a perfect world someone would demonstrate in person to me how accurate their MR1 is and than sell it to me for $1200, but that aint going to happen.

Reread my post that you quoted. I said I would not recommend either the MR1 or the AR180b. The AR180b because of its polymer lower that has the reputation for ctacking under range use.

Yes I know I had a AR180B, But you said its the only 2MOA Capable out of the "list"

I'm trying to make the OP re think his choices. Mini14 Target be the only gun on that list that will fit everything minus limited to 5 rounds. Cost, Accuracy, Reliable, Less Plastic.

But CSA will use AR mags with a 85$ adapter and will shoot MOY ( Min of Yote ) Most aftermarket support. Good enough for the CZ army since 58 I guess its good. Just in a different cal.

Seems like its basing it on other opinions, then personal. Ive shot all but the RL1 and Mini14. But Shot M14/M1 Carbines.
