I borrowed a friends shotgun and did this to it. Think he will be mad?

Well...

It looks ok for what you intended, but this may not be his cup of tea. Especially if this was his hunting gun. Personally I think you were well intentioned and nice of you to consider fixing it up but if it were me I would have just restored it a touch. Some sandpaper, stain and varnish on the wood and bluing on the barrel. If the barrel was too bad some durable black paint may have been in order. But it's been said time and time again I know nothing so here's hoping he doesn't use it on you. :D

(It still looks pretty good though)

It looks good, but I would be pissed personally (if it was my first shotgun, or given to me by a family member........this would most likely be given to the firstborn that showed interest in shooting) But who knows, he might not like his brother too much.
Be prepared to buy it from him (or replace it with another single shot shotgun) or at least offer to do that to help smooth things over if tension arises. You could easily pick up a shotgun IN THE ORIGINAL CONDITION FOR 50-75 bucks so its not a totally bad situation if the worst happens. Better to start with someones old shotgun, than their car or motorcycle.

I think my first reaction to the title was that you had put a ding in the wood of a really nice rig... then seeing the first cut-off picture I figured that was the end of the mod:eek:
If I were him you'd be getting a beating... but then to see the rest of it... very damn nice. You could borrow my old beaters any day. And if they had belonged to grampa or something, I still would say... hell ya! Your buddies gonna love it. Even if it patterns like CRAP, and even if he doesn't like the colors, and even if it was grampas, and even if it was his first, and even if he hates shortys and even blah blah blah, its worth waaaay more now that a pal put some time and care into it. Has nothing to do with money or the gun. If he's pissed, he ain't no friend cuz he missed the ####ing point.
:)

That gun was a beater wasn't being used, so you made the right choice. Everyone has that friend that always borrows stuff instead of buying it themselves, so the guy is in no position to complain. Well done.

bring a camera so we can see a surprised friend's face or you beaten to a plup with the end you cut off... looks nice, going to have to find a reason to buy a shotgun...

I'm sure he'll laugh it off... just don't be surprise (or upset) if he ever turns your truck into a convertible :yingyang:

Note to self: Don't lend a firearm to spenom... unless he's willing to take a new life insurance...

I would lose it................SNAP!!!
If I borrow a friends firearm I ensure I do a detail strip of it to give it back to him in better condition than I got it but to hack of a barrel is way over the line.
