I got bored the other day ( SKS barrel chop )

Well that was unusually easy. Found a set of rings and a picatinny riser too! Bad news is the brake is designed to fit around your now missing front site post.

I love it when you go shopping at home. I'm finding all kinds of things all the time. Thanks for the thought though.

Here the crown:

I warned you guys it was a little deep. Certainly not complaining about how it works. I think the only way that rifle is getting tighter groups is to move about 25 yards closer!

Hey do 100y if ya can, I'm going this weekend. I'm a gonna do 50y an 100y.

@evil11, Will work for beer!

@mattcwc, Can't do 100 at my house. Might be able to get to a spot where I can do a hundred in the next couple of weeks.

OP inspired me to do a bubba job of my own. Front sight removal and re-crown was done on the weekend at home. DIY paint today. It's still drying so more pictures to follow tomorrow, but here it is for now.

I love the pain job! What paint did you use? Looks like two different leaf stencils that you've effectively varied the colour and positioning to get a wide variety of patters. Well done! Another post with details is requested!!!

I de-greased everything before hand, and just used regular krylon "camo" spray cans and just used some backyard plants for stencils. The whole gun got a base coat in green and brown - just large areas of each randomly. I then covered each side with leaves and long grass, and gave the whole thing a coat of tan color. Same On the other side.. and voila!

It was dry enough to assemble back together (butt stock, shell holder, etc) so I took a few more pics.

I fully expect it to scratch really easy and have a pretty worn look with just a little use but that'll add some character to it.
I just asked my wife what she thought and she giggled and said it looks "a little feminine" LOL. Like a Hawaiian t-shirt.

Very interesting and unique paint job. I wonder if you used an Arma-Coat in clear over the top if it would make the finish more durable. I am very happy with the Arma-Coat finish on my M-14.

Well done. Awesome home camo job! It's funny, I'm brave enough to chop the barrel, but I don't think I'd want to try that paint job. I'm starting to think I want to fill in the bayonet groove and refinish it. Maybe something darker... Damn you evil11. Giving me ideas....
