I hate that word “Leupy”

El Flipo and others,
I just got off the phone with Leupold, and flat-out asked them how to pronounce it correctly. The correct way is Loop old, with the "Loop" ryhming with "Hoop" and the "old" rhyming with "mold". Some people let the P slip to the 2nd syllable, which is incorrect but not apparently not the end of the world.;) I often say Loopy, and don't have any plans to change.:D As long I have lots, I'm happy. :D
Leopold with an "O" is a rather uncommon European boys first name, more German than anything. It is pronounced LEE OH POLD, just like that common mispronounciation of my favorite scope brand.

Thanks for the effort Dogleg, and you are right about the addictiveness of Leupold scopes. I recon if I would sew all my little green scope blankies together, it would make a nice large quilt.:D

Hmmm, and here I was, wondering what to do with all of them! They're just too darn purty to toss them out.:D Hell, they look like something that a jeweller would display diamond rings on. That would be some quilt!

Most shooter do not know how to pronounce the name “Leupold” properly, and now, it is bastardized even further.
:(

So I take you're really not interested in hearing about Model 70 Winnie chambered in .300 Maggie with a Leupy scope on top?:p

Actually, it being a German name and myself being of German decent and knowing just a little about the German language, it is really pronounced, "Loy pold"!

But for those of you who pronounce it "expensive" and "very expensive", those are both very good "other ways" to pronounce it aswell!
