I'm stuck between the two because I like the "click" adjustments of the bushnell but I like to sleek look of the leupold...
ultimately, function and reliability
Out of your choices just get the VXI !

Of your options, I would pick the Leupold scope mounted in QD rings for your .308. I would ensure that the ocular does not extend behind the cocking piece, or at the very worst, does not cross a line, which intersects with the rear bow of the trigger guard. This may require the use of extension rings. Naturally, the length of the stock must accommodate the eye relief of the scope, which decreases with magnification. But neither do I want the LOP so long that the rifle is unwieldy. If you have to go searching for the reticle, once the rifle is shouldered, something needs to be adjusted. Similarly, the height of the rings must accommodate the height of the comb. The rings must be low enough to allow a solid cheek weld to the stock, but not so low as to cause you to mash your cheek into the comb. Very hard contact between you face and the comb makes even mild recoil seem worse than it should be.
A leupold 6 X 42 is all the scope you will ever need for that rifle. Simple, inexpensive, fantastic light transmission, reliable, few moving parts.
Would you dare to listen?
Buying a good scope the first time is cheaper than buying a cheap scope and replacing it later. With that sale the scope still costs more than the rifle did new.
Hardly makes sense to me to buy a lightweight rifle only to plop a heavy scope on top.here is my new M70 FWT with a Bushnell 5x15x40 scope its does do the trick
Why QD / quick detach rings on a rifle without irons?
Hardly makes sense to me to buy a lightweight rifle only to plop a heavy scope on top.
What chambering is the FWT?
.
i see now why they call you big mouth....if you look hard i have QD scope rings in case i wish to change over to my Bushnell 3200 3x9x40, but i guess there is always some thing that you will be commenting on while sticking your foot in your mouthYet another "why not to go this route" picture.
