I know primers are hard to find right now, but are people really this desperate?

Yes, primers are difficult to find right now, but they are available in spurts. It's not like they have been off the market for months or years. Are people really willing to pay that much for fractions of a brick of primers?

Some of the auction prices I have seen are pants on head retarded lately. I think people get caught up in the action and way overbid, or don't read it properly to see what they're actually buying. Plus there's what, probably 20% in fees on top of that? It's silly.

I found some Ginex primers a few weeks ago for a decent (new) price. But before that I resorted to using old RWS small pistol primers that were made in 1964. True story of desperation. (20% of them didn't go bang)

I've been selling in the wrong place. Maybe its time I took my remaining LR primers to auction. Can only guess what my LR Bench rest primers would go for!!!!

I would say it's very much like they have been off the market for months or years. I haven't seen a primer for sale in a bricks-and-mortar retail store in well over a year. One batch of Ginex small primers came in like 3 months ago, to a couple of online stores. That was the only opportunity I have had to buy anytime recently.

It’s hilarious in august I sold 10 bricks of federal 210M primers for 150$ Each, and people were jumping down my throat for gouging lol

Spoke with a fellow this morning, on the phone and he happily paid $65 for 2 ea X 100 packs of CCI 250 primers.

He doesn't shoot much, other than for sighting in and hunting, so he feels he will be set for five plus years.

When you look at it that way, it's not such a hit to the pocket book.

Most of the people I see complaining about the price of primers and powder are those in a similar mindset as this fellow. Often they haven't purchased components for 5+ years and are getting hit with sticker shock or lack of supply.

Maybe I'll break down a bunch of ammo I have and sell the bullets, primers, cartridges and powder separately.

Three new manufactures with new factories are coming on line in the USA in the next three or four months so the shortage should start to ease later next year. My brother in the midwest USA is already seeing some improvement in supply at stores.

I'm sure a factor in all of this is the self-fulfilling prophecy - people say there's a shortage, and people buy up all they can find and create a shortage (for sale).

As for me, I'm down to my last 30K and not inclined to buy any more................

That's because people like you and I are getting long in the tooth and 30+K should just squeak us through to the end of our shooting days.

That is true, although my 2+ tons of wheelweight ingots should be good well past my expiration date.
