I see Dlask is offering conplete non-restricted ACR barrels now for $500

Speaking of de-registering and verification, I'll share my story and see if it helps y'all. I always wanted a Luger, but could not have one due to he barrel length. So, I got one of my Prohib licensed friends to buy it and hold it while I was able to machine a brand new barrel for it. We called the CFP, opened a verification ticket with them and submitted proof of barrel length via email. It was approved within the week and was ready to transfer when I visited him on the weekend. I can't say whether or not R to NR would be the same or not, but it was a breeze of a process and was completely hassle free to go from Prohib to R.

You consider having to have a friend buy a gun while you make a new barrel for it, and (I'm assuming) multiple calls to the CFC to re-register your new pistol "a breeze" and "completly hassle free"???

WHAT?

It wasn't hassle free at all. You had to invest time and money and a boat-load of hassle into making a barrel for a gun a few mm's longer, just so that you could legally own the damn thing?

YAY GOVERNMENT! SO EASY AND HASSLE FREE!

I mean, congratulations and everything; and I'm certainly not implying that anyone should do anything illegal; but when someone starts spouting off about how "easy and hassle free" our current legislation makes things, I have to wonder.

Ok then...

I'm not saying the whole thing isn't an utterly pointless exercise of bureaucratic BS, and that a few mms of steel will save lives, but I didn't have to go anywhere, send the gun anywhere or fill in and mail paperwork. I made three phone calls and one email, the first call was fruitless (can't access info on someone else's file), second to initiate it with the owner with me, and third to confirm re-classification and initiate a transfer. Call them, set up a ticket, email proof of length and that's about it. Compared to other government rigmaroles, this was relatively pain-free. Plus it was a fun project. I could've had Dlask do it for far less, but I wanted to make the barrel for my own fun.

I happen to agree, but he shared some good information. Maybe reply with a little more polite tone, rather than the usual CGN bait and argue.

If Dlask came out with a 7.62x39 ACR barrel/bolt I would probably try it
But I'm more then happy with my QuestAR barreled ACR. Things a laser and managed to get some Blackhills 68gr match 223 to try in it. I also have the extended PTS handguard and the thing is rock solid if anyone is thinking of trying it

We have the ACR Basic Folder in stock, in both black and coyote, as well as the ACR Enhanced in black. The Basic Folder has the same folding stock as the Enhanced, with the handguard of the Basic model.

We have the ability to order any available parts from Gravel Agencies, and are verifiers with our own gunsmith and armorer.

If anyone is interested in putting together a non-restricted ACR, we would be happy to offer a discounted package.

Regards.

Tried to contact you to purchase that fde basic folder today.
No answer and your voicemail is full.

Rebarreling to non restricted costs way to much imo . I will wait for a non restricted factory made one to become available before picking one up. That is assuming the Beretta ARX100 doesn't make it to the Canadian market first.

CMV indeed (from another thread)

They are made out of Green mountain barrel blanks (carbon steel). We mill them in house. The finish is a matte black. If you send us the rifle we can install it free of charge since we don't have the gas system parts and they have to be custom fitted as each barrel can be slightly different. If you send the rifle after it would be $80.00 to fit it.

Best regards,
Scott

with the incoming Bushmaster barrel kits its hard to commit to this one… maybe if it was priced like their AR barrel

I kinda disagree. Lots of guys on here have Restricted 16.1" ACR's, and would love an extra couple inches (HA!).

This is still a cheaper and easier alternative to buying a whole new gun just to get NR.

Plus - it could be that the bushmaster 'stock' barrels suck donkey balls. GM ain't high end, but it could be more accurate that the factory ACR.

I would say there isn't much of a price difference between the factory NR acr and buying a used one and rebarreling it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the factory NR acr seems to be about $2799 + shipping + taxes so in Ontario it would cost roughly $3200 depending on the shipping cost.
You can buy a used acr for about $2200 and the price is slowly dropping, and a really good quality barrel from Herron arms is roughly $1000 (there are cheaper blank options) but you can choose the twist, coating, built in flash hider or threaded to your liking (this would put you at maybe $3300 with the shipping?). Or using the Dlask barrel you are around or under $3000.

Buying a brand new restricted acr and rebarreling it would be pointless and extremely costly with the factory NR coming out, but in all of my experience, every gun I've bought used here on CGN has been really well kept.
