I see Dlask is offering conplete non-restricted ACR barrels now for $500

I've got a enhenced ACR with the 16.5", I do plan on rebarelling it to 18.5" but I am wondering how much the factory Bushmaster kit will be. Let's say I don't wanna use the parts of my restricted: 500$ (barrel) + 650$ (parts) = 1150$, that's a lot of money. there is a good chance the Bushmaster kit will sell for less I think. That's just a guess but it makes me hesitate to buy the Dlask right now...

I think the factory kit should be much less than $1150 but I personally don't want a heavy non restricted barrel on mine. I think I can source a higher quality blank than what Bushmaster will use and have it built to fit the ACR and be much lighter for a lot less than the cost of the options out there now. Helps to know people but I think that even though Ian at Herron sounds like he is doing a nice job when you think about that fact that he is using maybe a $400 blank and then just a couple hours time to cut it to fit and swap over your supplied gas system his price is pretty darn high. I think if you weren't getting bent over the table it should cost closer to $700 and he would still be making money.

I don't really want a heavy barrel neither, but depending on price...

are the AR barrels on Dlask's site also GM unlined CMV? If so shouldn't the AR and ACR barrels be priced much closer? I cannot go on their website right now but I believe there was a 200$ difference at least... If price was the same it wouldn't be here talking about it, I'd have one already.

Wouldn't it make sense to get the second barrel in another caliber, Rather than spending thee money just for the status and no other gains?

Depends what you plan to do with the rifle.
Most other calibers that'll work, aren't as good from a ballistics standpoint.
When you add in availability of factory ammo, .223/5.56 makes sense.
I wouldn't mind a 6.8 spc myself...

Depends if the status makes a big difference for you really.
I prefer my guns as short as can be, but the NR status matters enough to consider switching for that first.
But a 300blk barrel is next, sucks we need a 18.5" in that caliber too, a 9" would be great ;)

In comparing prices for a replacement barrel you should be aware that a CNC made example will always be cheaper than a barrel which is hand turned, headspaced to your bolt, coated in cerakote, fitted to your rifle and then testfired at a range to ensure function and a quality job.
A few hours is the time I spend on the chamber alone but I may be O.c.d with regard to that.

100%. If you want it done right... go this way. picking up a ready made barrel may save you money, but more will be spent fitting, assembly and testing to ensure safety and function. If you have no skills... well just go to Herron.

From what I've heard about your barrels you are doing a great job but adding $1000 to the price of a rifle for a new barrel seems excessive when it is just a modified AR barrel. Even a hand turned from a fresh blank AR barrel fitted to the rifle is only $600-$700 from other places (mine was left stainless no coating though). The ACR barrel is the same other than a couple extra cuts and it should just be a milspec barrel extension so excessive fitting isn't really required.

The only thing stopping me from ordering one of your barrels is the price. Everything else I've heard is good and I'm glad you are doing it for the Canadian firearms community.

Yes it would but I think most guys (myself included) want to be able to shoot cheap(er) 223 most of the time and then switch to the caliber of their dreams for field use. If I was legally allowed to put my 12 inch barrel back in after having it re-classed to non restricted I would just buy a non restricted length 300 blackout barrel and then save up for something like a 450 Bushmaster down the road. Plus I want to use 223 in the field for varmint hunting.

X2, there's no question about the quality of your work here, but a that price I'm not sure it'll happen, not on my ACR anyway.
I sure wished they used AR barrels straight up.

For those of you looking for a new barrel of any length send me a PM, I'll give you the name to contact about it. He is hoping to have kits ready to sell by spring. Will be lower price for complete kit than any available now :D
