If you had $1000.00 to spend on a handgun..

I'm trying to decide this exact question for my self right now. I've got about 1000 to spend and have narrowed it to a Kimber or a Glock 22. Haven't fully decided yet.

What would you buy? Would you grab a 9mm or .45acp? Would you grab the new Ruger 1911 with a bit leftover to customize it, or grab yourself a Kimber Custom II at the $999.00 mark? Discuss!

I am going to grab myself a new Glock 17 next week, and I was just wondering what other people would do.

Great choice, don't listen to the haters.

I'd buy a Glock 17 just like you, with the rest of the cash - ammo.

I had 2000 so i bought a Walther PPQ Navy and a Glock 22 Gen4 also a 1000 rounds of ammo.

But if i only had 1000.....Walther PPQ Navy.

Save a few more dollars and get a Kimber custom II in 10mm. Atleast i think its the custom II , it might a diff brand . but 10mm without a doubt however if there was a long waiting period i would probably opt out for a 629 44 mag.

If you've only got $1000, buy a CZ Shadow. It is 9mm, so ammo is more affordable. It can be either DA or SA. The SA trigger is sweet, and the gun is very accurate. I personally have not owned one, but I have owned a Glock 17 Gen 4, and the Glock just cannot match the trigger on the CZ.

If you want a good quality .45, then look at the STI Spartan. It is well priced. If you don't know it yet, STI is well established within competition circles, and produce really nice guns.

9mm is cheaper to shoot than 45 ACP. If you are looking at cost for the gun you should consider the cost to shoot unless you are just going to stick it in a safe and admire it.

My 9's spend more time in the safe than my 45's, because they're just more funner to shoot.:)
Used to be happy shooting my 22's till I got a 9mm,
and I was happy with it til I got a 40S&W,
so the next step was a 45, and you guessed it,
it's the one that always makes it to the range.
No way I'm going near a 50AE, 460 or 500S&W(again)!
Way too expensive.
