If You Had To Sell All Your Guns Except Four

Believe it or not, i'm almost there (except for heirloom firearms, which are a different category altogether).

It would have to be 5, though i could live with 4... it would be a hard decision. I could do it based on $ alone, but that would be little fun.

Of course, that leaves more funds for ammo!

Paw tgg and I owned oodles of guns in the past.
Now we have whittled the arsenal down to 4 long guns and 3 restricted/prohibited handguns each.
We like to drive up north and hunt the big timber clear cuts for moose and shots of 400+ yards are not uncommon. That constraint takes the 44 mags, 45-70s out of the picture and we sold them off.
I kept a Miroku Browning BLR in 308 Win, a Savage model 11 in 308 Win, a Ruger 77 MKII All weather in 300 Win Mag, a Baikal o/u 12 gauge/308 Win.
These guns have all been modified by paw to my lop.
It's apparent that the 308 Win and 300 Win Mag are my favourite calibers.
The family heirloom Win model 94s have all been passed down to the grandkids.
Iron sighted guns are pretty much useless to both of us.

Start a new thread....

Mods....move the last post to said new thread, please....

But....

3?? I don't have any sentimental guns, so....

Modern Hunter in .260
.338LM
REC7, cause I assume in the panic no one will give 2 sh!ts R or NR....

Why bother with a new thread , I answered but added the post about the fire because this was a real situation not
hypothetical

We haven't sacrificed a thing due to our ballistic downsize.
We used the same 2 or 3 guns in the hunting field regardless of whether we owned 4 dozen or just 4 firearms.
The others were impulse acquisitions that collected dust in our gun safes for years.

The best answer so far, because it is real, not hypothetical, so it definitely belongs here. If I had to choose in Cat's situation, it would be my Custom 7mmstw, my Citori 625 three barreled set, and if I had room for some ammunition, my Cooper in 17mach2. If I did not have room for ammunition, my Anschutz 54MS-R would go in place of the 17mach2. That being said, my new 28 gauge AYA #2 in 28 gauge will arrive shortly, and that would be the first gun chosen to go with me.

Cooper 57M 22LR with Leupold 6X36 matte LR parallaxed for 50 yards.

8 pound 2 oz 1:8 twist 6mm Rem on transition M70 action with Kahles 3-9X42 multi-zero.

7 pound 0 oz 280 Rem on transition M70 with Leupold 6X36 matte LR.

7 pound 6 oz 9.3X62 on transition M70 with Leupold 6X36 matte LR.

You will notice a trend. :). A 6/7/9.3 trio.

I'd pick 6 sorry, the whole 4 won't work for me...

My 12g Fabarm sdass with 20" barrel threaded for chokes
My xt22
My most acurate svt40 with a scope
My 42 Tula 91/30 that's accurate as hell
My m&p9
And last but not least my 1921 no1 mk3 lithgow that was my old mans.

I don't think I could do it. I've got too many that were given to me by my father (and more still inherited after he passed). Couldn't part with those.

Easy for me because I've been thinking about this same thing for years but more along the lines of what 4 or only one that the Lieberal federal socialist anti gun government will someday allow us peons to own.

If by the remotest chance they don't completely ban handguns I'd keep my ultimate do anything and everything shortened to 4.25" barreled Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 Casull I can load it with the lightest 200gr cowboy action loads upt to 405gr WFNGC's @ 1330fps.

As to rifles =

I would keep my Grandfathers Husqvarna 3000 chambered in 270 Wby I just redressed it = I restocked it with a McMillan had it Cerakoted OD green and had the barreled action Cerekoted satin black and mounted with Talley lightweight rings a new Leupold VX2 4-12X40 LR reticle scope.

Have to have a shotgun would keep my 12 gauge Rem 870 with 14" and 28" barrels.

I'd also keep one stainless T/C Contender carbine I have 18 barrels so I'd be good for a very long time actually it would not change my life much cause I shoot my Contenders more than any other firearms I own.

If I could only own one with no extra barrels now that gets tough but it would probably be my stainless T/C Contender carbine chambered in 375JDJ loaded with 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps it is a crazy accurate 300 yard up to moose combo.

In a fire or emergency my four pics to save
-30-06 Remington 7600( it was passed down to me)
-Remington 870 (passed down)
-Custom atrs long rang with s and b scope b.o.r.s (because it's the most valuable)
-toss up between m1a/acr/tavor/Swiss/volquartsen 10/22. But logically I'd take the Swiss carbine non restricted with the us optics I guess again because of the monetary value.

However if I had to sell everything but three and I didn't have an emotional connection to anything it would be

- volquartsen 10/22 with mags and s and b scope
- m1a national match with us optics mr10 (or if I owned one a blazer tactical 2 with 223 and 308 barrels that's a sweet light versatile rig.....some day....)
- tavor modified with super sabra trigger pack and trigger bow key mod topped with us optic 8c. Or acr with same scope

Freeking hard to choose! Makes a guy think. Maybe I should set those three up I already have exactly the way I like and thin out some of the heard some

I have given some thought to this ridiculous premise but have come up with a set of 4 I could live with.............

1) RIMFIRE.......... Walnut stocked Sako Quad with 22 LR, 22 Mag and 17 HMR barrels

2) SHOTGUN.......Grade 3 Browning Superposed 4 barrel set.......410, 28, 20 and 12 all with changeable chokes.

3) HANDGUN......Large frame Super Blackhawk with 45 LC and 44 RM cylinders with interchangeable barrels and cylinder inserts for 357 and 9mm and 1/2 moon clips for 45 ACP

4) CF RIFLE.......Long action 700 Rem with standard and magnum faced bolts in a switch barreled set up. This would allow any cartridge from 22-250 to a .475 RUM

This action I would set up with a 1 piece Talley base and have a scope appropriate for each cartridge I had barrels for, set up in Talley QD rings. I was really impressed with repeatability of the Talley set up on my .470 NE, I would go with another similar set up.

I would have a Kevlar super ultra light stock for it, a medium weight fiberglass stock, a varmint configured stock, possibly thumbhole in glass or wood and I would have a nice custom walnut stock for the heavies, shaped along the lines of my Sako Safari.

I would also have several bottom metal assemblies for it, one of which would be a drop 5 round one, again along the same lines as my Sako Safari.

Action would be carbon steel and probably tefloned or cerracoated and all barrels would be stainless........but they could also be coated, depending on taste.......

I could live with this type of 4 gun battery, if it was Gov't decreed, (and only if we lost the revolution)................you see there would only be 4 serial numbers = 4 guns, right............

I think I may just build me one of these 700 set ups anyway, just for the hell of it..............
