If you thought SKS prices are crazy here....

A friend sent me a list of classic car prices and how they are going crazy too.

Take care of what you have and if it isn’t made anymore, it seems like it’ll go up in value. I won’t be surprised if SKS prices start at $600 in 5 years.

The Russian SKS, in particular, has been in the $600 plus range in the USA for many years now .. I suppose this is just a little higher than where they had been previously. They can’t get anymore and some restricted states and their restrictions make the SKS more desirable ... ie no removable mag, pistol grip etc in the stock form.

New imports of Russian sks (and all Russian firearms) have been banned from USA for many years already, so the supply is very limited and prices are high for existing guns.

People there are getting $1400 Covid dollars, per taxpayer and married w/kids get much more. If they have a job that's gravy so they need someplace to spend it. I'm sure that drives the boat.

Same with Norinco Firearms. They've been banned since like 1993 I want to say?

Although people should think about it... If the USA DID have access to these Russian and Chinese SKSs, the prices on them would have skyrocketed years ago in Canada. The only reason we got so many into the country for such low prices is because they COULDN'T send them to the USA.

US banned import for years...

They got some Albanian ones a few years ago. If the rifles have been outside the banned commie area for 20 years I believe, they can still be imported, The ban is not related to SKS, just in general, so your 20 year old SKS (since import and you can prove it) can be exported to the US.

But the Albanian ones are rough, same as the most recent import of Chinese to Canada. Hit and miss. Out of 4 I bought, I sold 2 (the not so nice ones), at least I bought them before prices went up so I did not lose money.

I bought a Norinco AK84s mint. Off the 12X EE board and paid $300CAD (prohibited)

That same rifle in the US is listing $1500-2000USD

They are sought after in the US because of their assault weapons import ban.
Unobtanium costs $$$ I guess

In all honesty, I don't know why a "niche" manufacturer in the US hasn't started making SKS rifles for sale there, just like they do with AK/FN types.

Also, that Chinese SKS with the "blade" bayonet is a collector item. If it's one of the original SKS rifles made on Russian supplied equipment, under the tutelage of Russian instructor/supervisors, it's fairly rare and sought after. If the blade was swapped out by Bubba, not so much.

Looking at the rest of the pics, it appears to be an early Norinco that's been refurbed or assembled from bins of parts.

I've learned to just not trust anything on Gun broker. My american friends are always talking about how it's just full of scam sellers and bot bidders. The 800$ sks' here don't sell either. 450 is honestly where they cap out - you can buy a dozen of them instantly for that price from one of the vendors.
