There's enough Mosins around, so don't feel bad about chopping one up for a project. I have one in the Archangel stock, had 6" cut off the barrel and had a muzzle brake installed. Really fun to shoot
I found a Mosin with a hex receiver from '29 and that one will not be modified!

Sweet!! I would have done a lighter camo job on it. Maybe something in the brownish/grey scheme. But I was reading up on shortening those barrels, supposed to really add a kick and huge flash! Is that true?

It does kick noticeably more than in its stock form (I like it this way as no-one else wants to shoot it) and it shoots a pretty good flame out the end. Next time I go out shooting I will wait till dusk and take a video.
