Im Broke AR build.

well my spikes .22 kit phucking sucks... Well I think its the JP low power spring causing lite strikes and I didnt have my stock one at the range with me... So Will have to swap that out to see if it fixes the problem on my next range trip...

Zero malfunction with AE .233 so I don't see the feedramps being an issue at all... So ill put my dremel away....

Here is my group at 50y . prety decent for Irons ... Might mount a scope on it next weekend to do a proper grouping evaluation...

Nice looking build! Looks like it was a nice day at the club. Wish I could have been there doing some shooting myself. I belong to that club :) kinda busy taking care of a sick 3 year old and a 8 month pregnant wife! Now thats busy lol.
I still haven't had a chance to try out my AR build I worked on all winter :(
Good luck with your spikes .22 kit.
hey I was just into lequille tonight and they just put out some new sight mark eotech style red dots if you interested. They are reasonably priced and quality seems ok. I've never read any reviews though. I bought one of the sight mark magnifiers and put it behind my eotech. I'm pleased with it. Comes with a QD mount too.

Well here she is... A big thanks to S&J for the barrel... Let me know what you guys think.

So the 1000$ AR is possible without having to buy a Norc or NEA. Just takes 6 months and allot of patience...

Range report tomorrow, I will also try out my Spikes .22 conversion.

Thats some ###y #### right there!!!!

Anyone here run a TRS-25 ? Wanstalls just got some in stock and I got one after reading positive reviews.

I ordered one UTG High Profile, and one UTG Medium Profile Riser Mount since I didn't know witch one would be best for me . Ive never co-witnessed red dots and irons before.

Im thinking having a lower 1/3 co-witness so my dot sits above my irons. any cons of having it set up this way ?

Since you will have both mounts you can try both and see what you like better. I tried both with my Vortex SPARC and prefer absolute co-witness to lower 1/3. But having said that, I have flip-up backup iron sights, so I don't have to look at them at all when they are folded down. If I had a permanent co-witness, I would probably go for lower 1/3.

I've run the Bushnell TRS-25 RDS on a few VZ rifles and I'm off them entirely now. They just can't handle the rain. They get wet and moisture builds up inside and they're done. I've had 2 different units cloud up on me on courses where it rained and I'll be going to a more durable and more expensive RDS.

If you buy cheap, you will buy twice, or three times.

Now, do I test the waters with a Vortex, or go whole hog and buy an Aimpoint Micro?

Well im not spending 500+ for an optic that goes to the range 3-4 times a year... Ben there done that. and yeah its cool to show your friends. But bottom line for me its just 5 bills I can spend on ammo...

So im sure the Bushnell will last no problem...

I had one, And it was send back to Vortex after it wouldn't turn on... And I also had a Vortex 1-4-24 pst that would turn on or off on its own...

So there is junk everywhere. The only Vortex I have left is my Viper PST Scope 4-16x50. Surprisingly it hasn't broken yet.

Will never buy Vortex again...

Hilux/Leatherwood has some nice Red Dots.

Cost effective, and I do not recall hearing bad things about them.

But then again I would also tell you spend a bit, and get an Aimpoint PRO. Your rifle deserves it.

Take a look at the Bushnell Zoom Dot. It's got a variable-size dot that goes from 1 MOA to 10 MOA. It used to be the Millet Zoom Dot before Bushnell bought Millet, and if you can find one it'll be around $250 or so. Supposed to be waterproof and very durable.

Very interesting build and good read. However you blew the budget the minute you put the Atlas Bipod on it. ;)

That Atlas is actually for my .308 . and I did get it directly from Atlas with Mil discount.

As for optics. I just put my name in for 3 month TAV for Kabul over X-Mas . If I get to go , Ill treat myself to something nicer...

Until then I'll test that TRS...

I have one on a 10/22, it is working well to date with no complaints at all. I will be buying another shortly to put on my 11.8" vz58 carbine.

Thanks for the warning, I will keep an eye on it and not let it get wet.
