Im Broke AR build.

That is one sweet AR you got there. As many have said, Norinco can have problems with after market parts since its not a true mil-spec AR. Can you share with us your building experience?? Did you encountered any problems?? Which part installed without hiccups and which part you have to do modification to install??

I am getting an AR soon and the information you provide can greatly help me decide the route I should go.

the stock/grip is no problem on a norinco. flash hider should be fine (havent tried). from what I hear you will have a hell of a time trying to remove the front sight gas block

the handguard is a huge pain because the front cap is not to spec and the handguard needs some trimming (the magpul did anyway)

I guess if you want to start with an AR on the cheap, go for a DPMS oracle. building one will cost more, but again you pick each component you want

I am getting an AR soon and am thinking about building one. The main thing I want to change first is the butt stock and the hand guard. Norinco is probably the cheapest, but I heard its not true mil-spec thus may have problems with after market parts. Like you said, it is not the best platform to start building from. That being said, which AR will you recommend getting and change out the parts I want?? Or will you recommend me build one from scratch??

^ Easy build from Scracth its cheaper....

Care to direct me where to find the parts? So far, all the upper, lower + barrel adds up way more than the Norinco. As Lue S mentioned, the DPMS Oracle is also another AR I was looking at and I still can't find parts that add up cheaper than the DPMS.

Yes, I was also looking at the DPMS Oracle and you are absolutely right, when I was looking at parts to build an AR from scratch, all the nice one I want costs quite a bit. lol... That being said, I was also unable to find a lot of affordable parts to build an AR from scratch.

expect to pay:
lower $200
upper $130
BCG $150-200
barrel $250 +
LPK $100

thats already a minimum of $730 and you havent accounted for stock/tube/buffer, gas block/tube, flash hider, handguard

a norc costs $700 + tax
a DPMS costs $850 + tax . its a good option if you like the barrel length it comes in (16" I believe), and only plan to replace a few parts

New ATRS pistol mags have arrived.... Fit my lower without any modification....
