I'm Thinking About Buying This 9mm

I second that a used Norc P226 will cost about 350$, not tax and shipping included, and will shoot better than an SD9VE. So will an NP29 (a 1911 in 9mm).

Thank you for all the tips and help guys, I was looking at Outdoor outfitters they have them on sale for $350.00
and thought that was a very good deal on a new gun and it probably is for someone with more experience with
shooting handguns than me.

I have not shot a sd9ve, but from what I have read I would not want to. The M&P`s however are a very reliable, & fairly accurate defence pistol.
I would tell you to shoot both. In fact, shoot as many as you can. We can not tell you which one is going to fit & feel right to you.

So does the NZ85A if you can find one new or used; they sell as fast as they come in!

Love mine. Their Sig clones are great also!

You can still find them for around $350 new, shipped. Lots for $399 out there.

M&P is a much better gun. I've shot a lot of rounds through M&Ps.
If I were starting out, looking for a 9, I would consider a Sig P320, probably a 320RX. But their triggers tend to be heavy, heavy enough that I have to be very conscious of trigger control.
A clean used M&P would be a much better choice than the other Smith. I wouldn't worry about round count. The M&Ps I've used have all been very experienced, thousands of rounds, and shoot just fine.
I have to agree with tiriaq.
I own both the P320RX & the M&P 2.0 in 9mm. 2 solid picks right there. The M&P is affordable & the new stippling is outstanding.
Cheers

Well I decided to buy it, couldn't pass on the price and I think I will have fun plinking with it. I have never owned anything bigger than a 22 handgun
so I'm thinking if that I should be ok never shooting another to compare against.

I have one. I personally don't mind it. The trigger is meh but otherwise I actually like the gun. Sort of a Glock G19 except the pistol grip fit me better than a G19. That being said, I also have a M&P 9mm which I like but my favourite is the Watlher PPQ. When you go to upgrade keep that pistol in mind.

save your money for another few weeks and get yourself a real m&p.

Well I did check out a few like the Canik TP9SA, Ruger SR9, and a Beretta and the one that fit me best was the S&W that I bought. I am new to the whole hand gun world and I just don't want
to spend good money to find out that I don't like it and then have to try and sell expensive guns, instead I have purchased 2 used 22's and now a new 9mm and I'm out a whole $800.00
so they can just sit in the safe forever and it won't bother me.

I'm sure for your intended purpose it will work just fine for you, congrats and enjoy your new handgun!! If you ever get more involved in competition or shooting sports you can upgrade then if you like, until then I'm sure you will enjoy what you have :)

Firearms are the cheap part of the equation.

Let us know how it goes with the SD9VE.

Well I did buy it and took it out last Saturday when it was -14 (I really wanted to try it).

I like it, I thought yes the trigger could be a little lighter so I will order the spring kit for $20.00
and after putting 60 rounds through it and 150 through my 22 and an hour and a half after I started
I figured it was time to pack up, I was so cold and shivering I wasn't even hitting paper anymore.

But I do like the SD9VE, I like the feel of it in my hand, I like the kick when you pull the trigger
and I really like that it was only $330.00 brand new, that leaves me $$$ to hunt down a new 22
for plinking other than my old 22 revolver.

I had this for about 2-3 years before I finally shot it this past weekend, can't even remember why I bought it....was the range kit, likely a good sale or something lol.
Really nice shooting pistol, like it much more then the SR9 and Glock I have although the Glock is still a keeper, the SR9 sadly is not and will be dumped.
