Imagine the following scenario...wrt hi cap AR Mags

As the OP, I think it would be pretty pointless, gauging by the reaction on here.

Instead of a complete firearm. Couldn't you make something like an adapter made for the CZ858, just like what the B&T and CSA did, and make it for a bolt action rifle, but with the mag locking lug made so that it will not accept normal ar15 magazines(but of course, the adapter would come with a 30 round magazine which will also fit into an ar15 magwell, just not designed for it), and get a ruling on that? I'm not sure what is required to get a ruling, but this way you don't have to go through the trouble of making so many guns, all you need to do is make a plastic mold, and pump out a bunch of plastic with it.

I am curious, were you serious about doing this and have the actual financial ability to do so?

What if: robinson arms (or any manufacturer really) made a. 50 beowulf "pistol" with "ten" round magazines. Because 12 .50 beowulf cartridges fit in a standard 30 round ar15 mag right. So a 10 round mag would hold 25 by my math.

Btw, this thread is amazing. It's like watching two chicks making out in a hot tub. You want to get involved, but your happy with just watching.

I am curious how you get .223 to stay inside, and feed from a.50 Beowulf mag without pinching the feed lips closed.
It still has to hold, and feed the cartridge it was designed for.
Otherwise it is a modified mag.

In that case manufacture a .50 beowulf magazine that can hold 223/556. Who cares if the magazine ends up sucking at holding .50 beowulf cartridges, as long as it is "designed" and manufactured to hold it. Hell, even mark the mag "For .50 Beowulf Only" for RCMP's sake.

I see now, they are both identical at the top. 2 5.56 bullets just happen to take up the space of one .50 Beowulf.

Slick!
I want some now!

it has already been mentioned that the 5/10 50BW will hold 18 rounds of 223. Sooo.....your math is wrong. a full 10/10 mag would hold a full 30 rounds. ;)

ok cool. thanks for the clarification jdman. Here's an interesting article comparing different large bore ar15 calibers if anyone is interested. http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/AR15bigbore.htm In the .50BW section it mentions that 12 .50cal cartridges will fit in a standard 30round mag. which means a ten round mag should hold at least 25. But I dont own a 50 upper, or a 5/10 round .50 mag so I'll take your word on it. I wonder how closely the authorities are watching this... and cringing.

Okay so. Next Step. What do we do now?

Email Alex@Robinson Armament to make a short XCR advertised as a .50 Beowulf pistol?

The idea of a bolt action rifle (or a lower) has merit in that you could also make 7.62 and 9 mm variants, taking similar to M14 magazines and glock magazines.

This thread seems to be going 2 different directions.

--Bolt action rifle with specifically made mag

--.50 Beo AR15 upper mags

Getting back to the original bolt action theme, if my small hole mag idea was paired with Notsorichguy's idea of an aftermarket stock and magwell for bolters such as Rem 700, can anyone see legal issues?
