Those rifles are chambered in x54r don't forget and have a much bigger kick than the x39 and the Iraqi tabuk I don't think had a laminate stock either. Should be totally fine, x39 recoil is verrry reasonable from my experience on a sks and VZ58, and consider even adding a muzzle break for even less ! Also, I'm thinking they probably made and tested these prior to wholesale manufacture and sale and if the stock had breakagebissues they probably dealt with them !

Not only that, but those rifles look pretty heavy...that will go a long way towards taming the already mild recoil even further.

Its not just about recoil, seasonal shifts and generally use can eventually take its toll. I had a walnut SVD stock crack on me, it took years to happen. But then it did. Like the cracked Two River Armory Tabuk stock featured in 9 holes review... its still usable after the crack. But it bugs my OCD haha. Since then ive always used Laminate for skeleton stocks.

well maybe we need a project maker with a copy of the laminate stock of the sr81 ...
 
I wonder if adding Birchwood Tru-oil would strengthen it?

I noticed my T81 full wood stock was getting dinged easily - Tru-oil provided a much harder finish.

If only to seal it against the elements maybe.

Hopefully they TI has a supply of spare stocks. At least a a wood stock can be sourced locally if need be.

Its essentially an AK side rail, positioned an inch or so further forward then a normal AK rail. They did this to make it work with the NPZ -1 optic base. If u order the gun without adding one of the two different mount + optic combos... ull basically get what people got when they ordered an Optic ready. M5x0.8mm threads sicking out. The thread positioning will always be proprietary cus its based off from the hole pattern of the Type 81sa fire control group. Maybe in the distant future they could convince the factory to spot weld or rivet an AK rail in the proper location. Permanently and professionally solving the Type 81sa's optic fiasco lol.

The rifle alone does not come with the adapter, only with the sticky screws. I also have a POSP somewhere but I think it would not work since the mount is so far forward. Just look the scope how long the end is. Pretty sure mine wouldn't work. Bite the bullet.

And all of us took the VZ 58 base for granted.

I don't think it is the Chinese. TI did this quite clever, also not offering any more rails. Now those are $300 (if you find one), so for $199 more, you get the scope.

i agree, they got us by our short and curlies so bite the bullet and order the damn NPZ scope. get it before they are sold out or buy them off EE at $600, lol.

Do the pins on a Type-81 not line up with the pins on an AK. When I've seen one lined up with a Type-56, they matched up perfectly.
