Hate to say it but I have never had a positive feel with anything from these guys and I know that some DND guys feel the same. I have seen (admittedly) only a few number of these actions and they have all been crap. Actions with the trigger pins in the wrong place and re-drilled, actions that recoiled only on the bolt handle and actions with chips at all the screw holes and tapered barrelled threads.
Never has an action been returned for having the trigger pins in the wrong place, never mind re-drilled, or any of the above errors you mention...tapered barrel threads?? Sounds like some second hand information, or information from an unqualified source with an agenda perhaps? I have a feeling I know where you got this garbage from, and we need not mention it. Point is, we have not had to do any warranty work to remedy any of this issues because they are non-existant.
I have also heard about actions for DND that just did not meet the specs. It's great to buy Canadian but not if it's only a small part Canadian and not at all if it does not do the job. As I am aware the only part Canadian is the action body and I may be wrong and if I am I am sure it will be pointed out!
Again, no actions have been returned from DND for failing to meet specs. The only contentious issue has been the mentality of trying to apply machine gun part swapping ability across a fleet of precision rifles. Again there has been no warranty issues here, and rifles have been in service for 8 years plus in some pretty harsh operational environments. We're like the Maytag repair men here, but according to you we are busy fixing mistakes....again, complete false information.
While I am at it, who on Gods earth would ever do a circular flute on a barrel and expect it to hold any kind of zero??
I did. How much data do you have to back up your 'theory'?? All of the rifles for DND underwent a very strict accuracy test before the rifle could be shipped to them. These tests were laid out by DND, witnessed by a DND Quality Assurance representative, measured and verified by said rep, and all data entered into an Excel worksheet. The requirement was for the rifle to have a 95% hit probability for a fig. 11 target at 1250 meters. The targets were shot at 300 yards, and all of the X Y coordinates fed into the spread sheet. These groups were not shot by a machine in a tunnel with no wind or mirage and a nice 20 degree temp. They were shot at -30C in the wind and snow. They were shot at +30C in the humidity and horse fly infested range with brutal mirage. They were also shot by Ross, the person you seem to have no idea about. After one of these marathon rifle qualification tests, he was admitted into the hospital with a concussion.....That's balls!! And all the rifles still passed!!
So what did that all prove? The rifles had an as fired average accuracy of 97.5%, in real conditions fired by a human. I don't know if you've ever done any shooting, but trying to achieve this kind of a goal for almost 200 rifles was pretty monumental. Of all of the rifles tested, very few had to be re-shot in order to pass, again, challenging conditions. I am trying to remember, but I think only 2-3 needed to have the barrel replaced because it couldn't meet accuracy spec, but we had no control over the barrel quality.
Countless results in shooting competitions across the country, as well as informal shoots in gravel pits and farm fields bear out our long term accuracy claims with the helically fluted barrel. Not to mention the successes of some very brave soldiers in far away lands whose combat effectiveness is unparalleled.
Yet your vast wisdom, and hostile intent behind the keyboard are to be taken as gospel? I've got quite literally THOUSANDS of rifles out there, and no complaints except for you, and you don't even own one of my rifles.
Sorry, not trying to crap on anybody but many of us seem to know better on this forum and just being Canadian is not good enough.
Not trying to crap on anybody?? You sure did, there is no denying it.
It's good enough for the minions to be told this is the best (and it may be better than some have) but to be the best is not that simple.
Insulting my happy customers a 'minions'. I don't tell my customers how good my product is, they tell ME!!! It always makes me smile to get emails from a happy customer, with pictures of them with little itty bitty groups, or the latest trophy they won in a match.
I know a real world class machinist that can fix there errors, not me, although I can have a whack at it if I must, but I will not after this post, not looking for fix-up work!
World class machinist eh?? There is one right here, and you just took a very unqualified shot at me. You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to spread second and third hand lies. There is nothing to fix but your horrible attitude and business ethic towards others.
BTW, my name is Steve, I own PGW with Ross, and I designed the Timberwolf in 2001, and have many happy clients and obviously some very misinformed haters.
