Intersting Read - CDN Forces Rifles

This topic should me moved to black rifles where it will get more exposure to the right people qualified to comment .

Debunked? By whom? I've read the article in the past, and I still agree with most of his points. The only stuff where my opinion may differ is in the individual components selected, and since a few years have passed, I'm sure that Kevin would revise some of his choices with what is currently available.

A 16" midlength with a RAS type set up would make the ideal/best compromise rifle for all around use in the infantry.

Ditto. Although I can't comment on the best rifle for the infantry. But I would venture for the army at large 16" is a good choice.

Not an expert.

There is a personal defence weapon in the works in Ottawa. Last time I talked to someone in the know, it was still not determined what kind of weapons system it will be. It is meant for the non-combat arms types so they will be able to have their weapon accessible at all times. It is not going to be a 16" version of the C7.

Soooo...
according to 'urbandictionary', "PWNS' is the 'The misspelling of #####'....
Given the POS I deployed w/ to 'Goosed 50', I can relate to the Cpl's post....

YMMV

They don't need a PDW. I manage to carry my rifle with me wherever I go, 20" barrel and all. It doesn't matter if I'm driving a vehicle, sitting in a turret, or the back of an ML. If they need something immediately available than give them a pistol. They certainly don't need anything new and high speed, do you know what would happen to the ND rates overseas? Besides, everyone, regardless of MOC needs to be able to lay down effective fire if required of them, and a PDW ain't gonna be much good for that.

It sickens me that DND is more concerned with outfitting non-combat types with kit, rather than the soldiers that really need it. I'll be spending my next tour stuck in the turret of a LAV, do you think my 20" C7A2 is going to be easily accessible if I really need it?
