IPSC @ Barrie and No Provincials

After all of this, I can't be the only one who really wants to see Bud step down from IPSC. Someone tell me how he can get away with sending these kinds of emails, and get away with it? IPSC is sure to suffer if nothing is done about this kind of behaviour.

It is a shame that IPSC is not willing to give in, Barrie has always put on top level provincial match which has not been outdone by too many clubs in the area. Who cares if we have two range masters as long as the shooters are provided with the good course of fire. If IPSC Ontario feels that these people are incompetent they should do all the work for the match and stop giving orders on what to do, how to do it,, when did it. It is the club that has to do all the work in advance which relies on club members to help. We have to remember that IPSC is not the only discipline in the club and IPSC Ontario should be happy when any club donates the facility for the match. This is truly a personality clash with IPSC executives and should have never been allowed to get this far, as usual I guess no one has any backbone on this board. The two members in question have more likely done more for ISPC in building up the shooting sports than anyone else.

Not sure if someone has brought this up yet or not.

If memory serves me correctly there have been a few Level III's in Ontario with two RM. I seem to remember Shane Melless and his buddy Mike Galin sharing RM duties at a few level III's.

If I am correct in this recollection, why is it a issue when it is not Bud's son Co-RMing? Or is it because of this pairs performance of their duties (or lack thereof) the reason they no longer want two RM's?

Done right, I can see a lot of benefit to a pair of RM's. With the box and production division equipment checks, having an RM running the chrony makes more sense today than perhaps it did 10 years ago. That still leaves a spare RM to put out fires, hold hands, and try to keep the match running smoothly.

Done poorly, I suppose it adds to the potential for confusion or mixed messages from the top.

From my perspective, last years Provincials seemed to work well with Phil and Kent.

Interesting thread.
My friends and I were there during the mid 90's when Bud, Dino, Calvin et all waged a public relations contest against IPSC Canada and F.W.Lorne Rowe. Good people were slandered and it got messy.
It got too ugly and my friends and I lost interest.
Kent was there, he will remember.
I still have much of the communication material that was spewed forth.
I am surprised things have went smoothly until now.
Politics sometimes get in the way of everyone's enjoyment.
Good luck sorting this out.:(

Not quite...

2 years of absence , you just have to pay your membership
3 years you get an Instructor assessment (which could result in recertification)
4 years or more...you have to redo the BB

BS!!!!!

I went 1 year without being a member and I was required to get a instructor assessment. It had nothing to do with my competence either. I have been shooting IPSC for over 15 years, was a RO and a Club Rep for a number of years at two clubs.

I think that the people that make these decisions make it based on how they feel about the person in question and what kind of mood they are in that day. There is often no ryhme or reason to how and why things happen in this organization.

On a side bar. Someone posted a reply saying something to the effect of the BOD should do what the membership wants. That they are there to reflect the mood and wishes of the them. I clearly recall one of the AGM when the touchy subject of having a GM class brought into our classification system. The president of IPSC Ontario at that meeting got up and infront of all in attendence said "I don't care what you want, there will be no GM class."

Well we all know how that ended up. Sometimes they are not willing to listen at first, but eventually and slowly things do change because of the demands of our membership.

The only way this issue will be resolved is if the membership keeps pushing the issue. It will only be fixed if we demand it to be fixed.

.

It's been the IPSC Ontario policy since Dec 2006.

AAAHHH - IPSC bow and arrow stage !

Ya, you right.
I have just talked with some and they say, they would rather shoot bow and arrow then take on *DPA ### :D

I think I.P.S.C. should have black powder cap and ball wheel gun stages !

Call it Josie Wales match ! Carry 4 or 5 wheel guns and drop em when they are empty ! The IPSC rule book would then become 2 phone book sizes instead of 1 ! :p ;) :D :nest:

Who knows, maybe one day...
For now, I hope you stop getting jealous and start shooting with IPSC crowd to see where you standing

I shoot IPSC - and IDPA and TDSA and BLACK POWDER cap and ball !

Interestingly a cap and ball 44 out of a western holster double tap A zone is just as fast on the draw as a CZ Shadow out of a C R Speed ! {According to ru ready timer!}

Nows there's an idea !

;)
Does Airsoft make a cap & ball version ??

Set up an airsoft IPSC match ! -You can use FULL AUTO !!! :p

The sensitivity of SOME ipsc types when they are being poked fun at shows they are taking IPSC and the IPSC politics WAY TO SERIOUSLY !

Maybe that comes with being a competitive type which IPSC tends to attract.

Or maybe it rubs off because of the anal retentive strict adherence to the safety rules (a VERY good thing).

Or maybe its because they are just assoles - ;)

Well seeing as this thread has morphed into an IDPA vs IPSC thread and we have had quite enough of those over the years I am going to lock this.

I hope and understand that the individuals involved are working on an amicable solution to this incident and we can move onto more important things like

shooting and annoying Liberals!
