Looking to grab a handgun l will potentially use for IPSC black badge in the future. Most recommended and that I seen people use is the CZ75 shadow.

Other attractive ones seem to be Glock gen 4 and price wise the Jerrico Baby Eagle.

Unfortunately, Right now its out of stock at wholesale locally and I cant try it out. Anything else recommended that I may want to take a look at? I do like cheap and long warrentys but I also hate rough functioning guns so Ill spend around the 1000 mark if I need to possibly more if its significantly better. I ''plan'' to only have one handgun so this is it and i want to do it right.

And is there issues with using cheap steal case 9mm for practice?'

Even though you can not handle it, go with the CZ 75 Shadow or other variant (Shadow Line, Shadow Orange etc).

Of course there are other good handguns out there but if you only want one handgun and you want to compete in IPSC Production division then it is easily your best option from a cost to performance standpoint.

If the grip doesn't fit your hands perfectly when you buy it then just try other grips. There are lots of options.

You can order the Shadow online, lots of places have them in stock.

No problem using cheap steel cased for practice, you might just replace your extractor slightly more often. I used cheap steel cased for training and even matches for a long time.

Next time you're at the range, just tell a Shadow owner you're thinking of buying one, and then ask if it's ok to handle it. I bet the owner will then ask if you want to try out a mag. :)

Go Cz...you'll never regret it...must be hands down the most popular production pistol in ipsc...they are that good..

Make sure to try what they do have in stock though. That way you'll know if you really like the feel of cz better or not. Like anything they're not everyone's cup of tea. (Although lots of love for them here) Also holding and shooting are two different things. Show up at the range with a box of 9mm and make some friends. :) Thats how I decided on a G17 over M&P, PPX, 92fs and a Jerico (similar in weight and feel to CZ I think). Two Sigs I shot we're my favorite but I bought two guns for what one used Sig would have cost me. Always a little compromise, especially when starting out. Unless you're much richer than me.

the silver CZs are a polycoat. Get a black one. more durable finish.
if you want to try a CZ come to Abby for a S&D night and you can try one of the dozens there, or try our Steel Challenge night and try one there.

Your best sights for competition are a rear blackout out and some dot or colour up front.

Lots to read on the subject, but your focus is the front sight and the less there is to focus on the rear the faster you are.

If your competitive, start with this and learn with it.

Ahh so I guess thos cheap Cz75 with the fix sights are out of the question.

Just to get them in my hands and play with them.

Getting set up for IPSC is not cheap (holster, lots of mags, mag holders, spare parts ....) so it's better to get a good feel for what suits you before you start. Head over to DVC. They have a lot of hand guns you can try. Shadows, Glocks, Sigs, Grand Powers, ..... There's no fee for each gun, but you do have to buy the ammo which is not cheap. But it's a great way to get a feel for what suits you before you invest in running that model.

I know looking at the costs of everything and The Jericho Baby eagle range kit is looking attractive because I can get out shooting right away. At the same time, I honestly feel I wont be happy unless I get a CZ.
