IPSC On-line match sign up

and why is that?? this is not a dictatorship.. this is supposed to be a sport that promotes new ideas, challenges, and concepts.. is against the rules to shoot a match dressed up in a santa outfit???

I'm all for new ideas and concepts...as long as every member is treated equally...

Every member is being treated equally, the match is open to everyone. But until the week before the match you must sign-up to work for one squad.

Please,
tell me where in the IPSC rule book it say we must work?

It is a more like a common sense that we will work, but imposing this on shooters it is a very bad habit. Just goes back to communist times, must this, must that....

IPSC is freestyle!

I don't remember any communist times in IPSC.

You said earlier that you always work at matches, just pick a time that you want to work at and then book your shoot time.:dancingbanana:

I understand why you feel the need to do this...but if you look at both sides...it doesn't treat everyone equally. It actually gives preference to local shooters (as in my previous example) that don;t have to contend with travel.

To be honest...if shooting a particular match means that realistically I have to spend one more nite in a hotel room (or fall asleep driving home) I just won't shoot the match...

...seems a bit unfair for someone (and there are plenty in the same boat) that earns 25 RO points a year...

If IPSC is free style please refrain from using word must.
And I do not like to be told you must work in order to shoot.
I like this sport and I like people who are part of our game,
but we can not go this direction.

What happened if we will shoot a match.
You as a worker who paid 33% less to sign up,
and someone as a shooter who paid 100%.
Do you think he will go and patch targets being charged more
then you and having troubles getting on to the match?
What this creates is two tier.
Do you want to see shooters divided?

How ironic...

We spent so much effort becoming pro RO...we didn't see that we're becoming anti competitor.

We all know you can't have a match without the volunteers...but without shooters...it's just a bunch of people in funny shirts with yellow boxes standing around in the sun...

just open the match to AirSoft shooters (can you consider it shooting when you can throw a small plastic ball faster than the gun.. ???) .... :nest::nest::nest:

You have mention dictatorship,
then tell me what is it, if you are not working as sign up worker then you wait for your turn.
I know we need workers, but IMO this is wrong way of getting them.
Most of people work during matches. I know I do, and guys who travel with me. Last year according to statistic run by euxx, I have attended most of the matches in Ontario and have never hear a word of complain about my working ethics. Not bad for CAW member :D

In my understanding the only workers needed are ROs and CROs (I might be wrong, but at the matches I shoot, patching is usually not an issue and there isn't much else a non-RO shooter could do, well maybe reset the steel, but it isn't much different from the patching). So, opening match only to ROs only mean a discrimination against all the new shooters, that is especially bad practice for the Level I matches.

Not really as there are only so many ROs required for a match. Once that complement is reached there should not be any more "early bird" slots remaining.

Generally I like to have 1 CRO, 1 RO and 1 scorekeeper / bay/half day. So for one full day at a Level I, thats 6 officials, for a two day Level II where we'd use two bays thats 24 officials, Now you can get by without the CRO and that makes it 16 officials needed. Some will work the full day and some even work the whole weekend so you can adjust accordingly. But you'll need a minimum of 12 - 16 Officials signed up to be able to run a two day match. Now it's only fair that they get to shoot the match, it would certainly suck to sign up to work then find out the match filled up in an hour and you didn't get in. So I have no problem with pre-signing anyone that agrees to work the match. As far as the reduced match fee, I'm not overly in favor of this, if you shoot the match for score you should pay the same fee as the other shooters.

Well, the system doesn't really allow to track that right now. Eg. 16 non-RO scorekeepers can signup to work for a day. All they going to do is to make the stage area crowded...

I haven't played with the system as a match administrator but I would only allow for enough slots to fill the Ro and score keeper slots...eg 16 for the whole match. Beyond that and you end up having half the match pay extra for a match so the other half can pay less.

The EESA policy is that set up crews shoot for free. Since we set up our matches on Friday mornings (and Thursday evenings) it means that people are taking days off work to set up. I will be damned if I will take a day off or ask someone else to take a day off work for the chance to pay to shoot a match. The exception to this is the charity match of course.

Pat, my point is that right now system does not differentiate between scorekeeper and an RO. So, you may get 16 scorekeepers an 0 ROs for the slots you dedicated.

How about reserving a slots for workers in each squad? So, workers could claim it. That would, of course, require to change the system.
