And to solve the problem of one great match bumping you up, increase the minimum number of matches from 3 to 6. That way one or two great matches won't move you up (unless your really close to the bubble)

Another option is to take your most recent 5 matches, toss out the highest and lowest scores, and then average the remaining three. This removes anomalously high or low scores. If all of your scores are about the same, then removing two of them will make no difference. If you have an uncharacteristically great match or an exceptionally bad day, they won't make a difference either.

Pretty much Standard deviation....but as much as I like the idea...it would be at least a full time job to calcuate...

The system needs to be accurate...but managable.

We have to rely on volunteers to do the work

It's exactly what we do in Alberta and it's very manageable. (MrFritz is our Stats guy)

As far as I know (I'm not a computer guy), he's got it all programmed into our section laptop. It's all automated.

I smell another IPSC related IT/online project coming up ;) we have the user's info... we can easily setup a mechanism for MDs to upload winmss output into the system.. the logic would be simple, someone would just need to mark which matches were classifiers for which divisions...

SO,.....your telling me,.....

that if I climb that 300ft cliff......and eat that egg from the nest,....I will become a better shooter....!?

The logic would be simple...the data would be messy...

35 different versions of WinMss means multiple input of the same person
R Smith, Rob Smith and Robert Smith, Robert J Smith may all be the same person...but an automated system would treat them as seperate.

Yet another reason to support ICS... as there is only one IPSC Alias to worry about.

Cheers Eh?

Not exactly...

You also have to match to exact spelling on name and date of birth...or it throws out an exception report.

Submitting ICS results is a pain...I expect there aloot of results that never get properly included becase of bad data in the individual WinMss Data sources (one per user)

Trust me...I know a little something about application design and automation...it doesn't always speed things up

Sheesh, what a pain! Let's get everyone tattoo'd with a bar code. That would fix it.....

Production: NO GM's, not even close. Seeing as Omen and myself have won most of the matches in Ontario, then I think that I can honestly say that. I know what a true GM in Production shoots like. Not like us.

Well, there is your perspective. How do you like reality come back at you?:(
Oh yes, one more thing. Judging by what you say about production division, which may or may not be true, then why do you have personalised license plates on your car that say "IPSC GM"?
If you want to accuse others of having swelled heads, maybe you need to start with yourself and your car.:D

Isn't getting our classes from ontario matches only what's gotten us into this situation in the first place? Any level 3 can appy to be used as an ICS score The only ones I have shot which have applied have been Barrie and th WS.

In the end it all comes down to shutting up and shooting, some can, some can't, and some who can't like to say they can, but the score sheet never lies.

True, but what I don't like is when the score sheet says I can shoot and I myself and everyone else knows I can't. :puke:

Well....if the score sheet says that you did well on a given day relative to everyone else, then you did. Maybe someone else had a bad match, and maybe you had a good one, or that particular match favored your strengths. Either way, it doesn't matter. On that day under those circumstances you did well. Remember; it could easily have gone the other way, and you could have had a horrible match; way below your average. Not many people seem to complain about their ranking when that happens though.

So we are into bashing now, are we?

You were there when this was explained to you, so now I will have to explain it to the world (and yes, your swelled head).

"My" license plate does not say "IPSC GM" on it. It is my wife's car in her name. Again, this was explained to you in public when you tried to embarass me in front of others before. If you don't believe me, then you can see the ownership any time for the vehicle and the plate. I CANNOT alter what my wife wants to purchase or own. We have many vehicles, some in her name, and some in mine.

Yes, my wife bought the plate for me as a present. Yes, I am also able to have a wife in my life who shoots guns and has a Black Badge. I am happy that my wife would care to purchase something that she would think would mean alot to me. You should be so lucky, but with your attitude, I don't think it would be possible.

If that means that you should try to slander myself and my wife on this forum, then that makes you a very little man because you know the story beforehand. It is that type of thinking that causes this sport to have troubles. You don't want me to bring up your trash on this forum, so don't try to bring up (or make up) trash about others.

You have crossed the line Alex. When you can't win an argument, you resort to tactics like this. That had nothing at all to do about the topic.

You must have quite the following of admirers now.

You mite want to look again in standard. I option 2 or 3 get in the GM's will be Mike B and Mike D..
