Is it worth buying a handgun right now?

Hey everyone, I would love to get some opinions on this. I've had my restricted PAL for a little while, but I never ended up purchasing any restricted firearms. I recently developed the itch, however, after going to the range with a friend of mine and trying out his P226. With the general political climate right now, what are people's opinions on having something registered to your name? I'm not really looking for conspiracy theories or doomsday predictions, but if I'm being honest I always enjoy a good read, so have at it.

Thanks!

On the one hand, there is a very real possibility the Liberals will try to ban handguns in the next few years. On the other hand, if you don't buy a handgun because there MIGHT be a handgun ban in the future, they already won without even trying.

By buying a handgun you add to the number of handgun owners in Canada, and that is never a bad thing... And if they DO ban them, you'll only regret not getting one more because now that ship has sailed, ESPECIALLY if they grandfather them.

I regret not investing more into building out my AR15. I got a lower, got a lower parts kit, then hesitated due to the writing on the wall. Now its very likely that I will never own an AR15, and that makes me sad every single time I look at my gun safe (which I see every day, as I work from home and my guns are in my office).

Easy to say buy because at the end of the day, it's your money and time. Maybe check into your life and work schedule and your interest in shooting before making the decision to buy or not

Do a little self examination.

If you are a reasonably mature individual, you should be able to figure out whether to fulfill that desire without my permission.

If you want one , get it now . Who knows , there might be a ban on hand guns , and you might be grandfathered in ; in the worse case scenario , there would probably be a buy back if handguns became fully prohibited . You can get a decent used handgun for 400 to 500 , and that is a small price to pay for admission .

buy a handgun they are great. If money issues come to mind through just buying or losing it in a ban then get something cheap. I am a fan of the tokarev which can be found for under $300. Yes they are old and they shoot expensive or corrosive ammo. Corrosive ammo is not a big deal at all. $450 can get you a modern plastic gun or steel frame norinco. Both will probably serve you well.

If you bought an AR - 15
when Trudope said you could not have one,
you would still have one in your vault today,
But you could not buy one today,
Even if you wanted one.

I recommend to many clients
to get their PAL/RPAL soon
for the same reason.
Here today gone tomorrow.

if a hot famous lay suggested a one night stand,
you would of course refuse and insist on marriage?

Some people tell me that "I'm not interested in handguns..." to which I respond "Have you ever tried them?" and the answer is almost always something like "No, I've never tried them, I'm not interested in handguns." Most of the time, if you can get them out once, and get them shooting handguns once, that is enough to make them change their mind, to become interested, and to then jump through the necessary hoops to become a target shooter.

Some people feel so offended by the extra course, extra costs, and extra restrictions involved in 'restricted' firearms that they never buy one. It's their loss, and in any case it's what the government would prefer. You do understand that the very reason the course was CFSC split into two parts (i.e.: CFSC & CRFSC) is expressly because the rate of (legal) handgun ownership was rising, they felt it necessary to nip it in the bud, and their strategy has worked. They really don't want Canadians to be able to have one, you do get that, don't you? Why do you suppose that might be the case? Isn't that fact reason enough to buy one?

Do it and don't look back. A lot of fun to shoot. You went through the exercise of getting your RPAL so you definitely have some interest. As they say, buy a handgun, pi$$ off a liberal.
