Is it worth buying a handgun right now?

100% buy, I can’t see them banning handguns all together anytime soon.
I think they’re starting to realize there’s more people affected from the ban than they originally thought.
Plus I don’t think gun violence has gone down seeing as the ban only affects law abiding citizens but who knows maybe criminals stopped using high capacity mags and certain firearms for shootings.

You won’t regret getting one.

Assuming you're not going to go broke over it, this is how I see it. Lets say they're going to be banned in 2023, this is the last opportunity you’ll ever have to buy and shoot one. If you don't you’ll regret that way more in 20 years than whatever money you lost.
 
If in a way, you can fit it in your budget.

You will be happy you did. I helped many new RPALer buying their first restricted.
2 youngs men did order their first restricted this pas month with my guiding

And make sure your spouse gets the RPAL and handgun.

Every firearms holder on this site should ensure their spouse is equally licensed and owns a firearm.

You are so right about this.

It is the personal responsability of a family leader to inform, show, explain and especially falicitate the accession to firearms to family and friends. Making sure when i am recalled by the big guy, everyone left behind will be good. YMMV
 
I bought my first handgun this year because of the grumblings of a potential ban. Same as the OP I've had a rpal for many many years but never bothered to step up. Anecdotally my LGS said that they've never seen so many new shooters as in recent months. So all the bs the liberals are pulling to restrict and eliminate legal gun ownership has directly inspired me to buy restricteds and more firearms in general. And I sure hope it's doing the same for others.

Legal gun ownership should be encouraged in my opinion not vilified like our current regime seems intent on doing. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but things are becoming so ass backwards with our 'leaders' that there's never been a better or more important time for people to legally acquire firearms and espescially handguns.
 
I just got my PAL a week ago and I’ve already purchased two. I’ve always wanted a 1911 and now I have it plus a 9mm. I went with Girsan for both, I’ll upgrade later.
 
Spend $200 on a used Norinco to see if it's your thing. And much more on ammo to make really sure.
I'm guaranteeing you've thrown away $200 on something much less worthwhile. And you're more likely than not be able to get your money back on the Norinco.
And if it's not for you, get rid of your rpal; it's honestly not worth the worry if you're not enjoying the 'privilege'.

I had a Norinco NP34 and put 100 rounds through it all the while throwing up in my mouth.

Spend the extra and get something worthwhile.

I owned:

CZ SP-01 Shadow
Sig P210 target USA
CZ Shadow 2
Norinco NP34
Sig P226 Legion SAO
Bul 1911 Government Tactical

The best for me was the Shadow 2 and Bul 1911.

The ####tiest was the Norinco.

Now if they release the Dan Wesson DWX, I would get back into the handgun game.
 
It's kind of like when people say "is now a good time to buy gold?" The answer is that the best time to buy these things is yesterday.
