Why? You don't want one.

How the fuk do you know?

Marstar has Mkb42 coming in, and has semi MP44, MP40, BD3008...Tough Decision! Same bang for the same buck as Tavor! :p

I wonder how many more Tavors are coming in?

Just felt like giving my own opinion : Do i think it is ugly? Yes. Do I need it ? No. Do I have the $$? Nope. Would I sell my car, quit my girl, and work 4 jobs to buy one ? Defenetly !!!

The Isrealis I know like the Tavor a lot. If I had $3000 and a few less ongoing gun projects I'd jump at the chance to own one.

Ask anyone who had the chance to try one out at the TacRifle match last week .... its a blast to shoot! :D

I will quite likely buy one and sell off a few other less used things to make it happen. :dancingbanana:

The Tavor appears to function very well as a sporting gun and as an action sporting rifle in particular. The 18.5" barrel in that compact package is a very attractive combination. The bullpup configuration will take a little getting used to but the design features keep this rifle ergo friendly all the same. Climate issues won't make much difference to me as if the weather is that inclement I doubt I would be shooting in it.

I dunno, I don't see Israel phasing out the M16/M4 anytime soon considering they're free from the US! It'll be interesting to see how the TAVOR holds up to sustained deployment/combat. Knowing the Israeli's, it'll run like a Timex...I still think its FUGLY though!:)

The main advantage over the M4 is the longer bbl and the much smaller silhouette.

Seeing as how we know that a 16" barrel for 223/5.56 is the optimal compromise between length and velocity what advantage does a 18.1" provide? Based on the facts I found the Tavor has an OAL of 28" (and change). My 14.5" AR measures out at 33"(and change) for my setup. So we can add two inches to make it a 16" gun and we're looking at a difference of 7" overall. The weight of the Tavor loaded with a 30 round magazine(I wish!!) is 3.6 kg which works out to be 7.9 lbs. A 14.5" M4 weighs in at 7.5lbs which works out to 3.4 kg. I doubt 2" of barrel can add .4 lbs of weight. Even so, they would be identicle in weight.

A smaller profile is an advantage for those who employ the rifle in a professional capacity. For those of us who do not, it is only an advantage on the "cool" scale.

I agree it is a neat firearm and would be something different to play with. I don't feel it is leaps and bounds ahead of other platforms that are cheaper, more modular/customizable, and don't require a great deal of searching to find parts.

Once again, we come back to the non-restricted point. That's a fine and dandy comparison.... If only the AR was non-restricted. Then I'd have a lot tougher choice to make my decision of AR vs. Tavor as to which black rifle to spend my extra pennies on this summer. But given all the extra baggage that comes with owning an AR in Canada, my decision is much easier. So it was really only ever between one of the non-rest Sigs and the Tavor.

The smaller profile is also useful in action shooting ... not everyone does their shooting from a bench or a firing line.

I forgot about that. That is a very valid point. Non restricted is a huge benefit!!

Trust me, I wish it only came down to the things you mentioned. We both know how trick of an AR you could get for the money a Tavor will run... It was *almost* tough to put that order in... Until I remembered how sweet it will be to go shooting without driving an hour to the range.
