Is there a shortage of .22 ammo everywhere?

Sorry for not getting back sooner... they were wild cats. brick of 10 individual boxes...
I don't reload, so I've no idea if there was powder or not.

My local Walmart had (4) boxes of .17HRM for quite some time and nothing else. On Monday, I noticed they had (9) boxes of Win 333's on the shelf so I bought them all. It wasn't a hard choice. In Nova Scotia, there's very little .22 rimfire to be had.

Well maybe... i think there is a shortage but not due to hoarding. As always demand and supply. Company slows down supply. Price goes up. Stays for a while. People get used to paying $50 instead 25 a brick.... company increases production to normal and profits. Simple capitalism. Hope you still like it.
 
Of course the ammo price from the manufacturer is not really increasing it just appears to be because the $US is worth so much more than the $Cdn. Ammo supply is always a little spotty in Canada, and it tends to arrive in waves so lots of retailers run out between shipments unless they order large.

Simpler capitalism for those without tin foil hats.

I agree. I have an "in" with a local retailer and wholesale prices are way up. With our dollar at 80 cents it won't be getting better either. TC
 
Saw some 500rnd bricks of CCI and Federals in Red Deer on the weekend. Not prepared to pay their price. Guess I'll have to wait this drought out.

there are ton of those 555 boxed winchesters and bricks upon bricks of the yellow jackets available here; however, cabela's 2.5hrs away are flat out of it and say .22 ammo is on backorder.
 
No shortage at my house, I actually sold 4000 rounds to another Nutter a couple days ago, at just about cost. I could see this coming and stocked up a few years ago. CCI Stingers, where still $40.00 a brick at that time when people didn't want to believe prices would go up, like they ever go down, and that .22 would be in high demand. Cheaper ammo like AE I bought were still $20.00 a brick. Friend of mine in the U.S said AE can fetch around $100.00 a brick down there.

Also gives retailers a chance to jack up the price of .22 ammo.

Remember in the not too distant past when 500 rd bricks of Win Wildcat were $17? Try & find any 500 rd bricks anywhere under $40 now.

I see 22 everywhere I go, different brands, have seen steady supply over last five years and I shoot around 5oo a year but I could buy more then I need . But I have always walked into store and picked up brick when needed

You only shoot 500 rounds of .22LR a year? I'm around 10x that and with the shortage of specific brands for my picky .22LR handguns, I just bought 5000 rounds of 9mm and will be shooting that instead. My .22LR pistols will be safe queens until the market sorts itself out.
